Hey I'm absolutely certain there are some threads out there dedicated to this song, but I didn't really have the time to look for them. I just wanted to get people's thoughts again - even if expressed previously - about the song Lukas and if it's an absolute travesty they gave the song to Natalie Imbrugliwhat without recording their own version.

 

Personally, upon hearing the song sung by her for the first time today (I don't know why I never looked at this months ago - I guess I was in school at the time), I can so hear how great it would be with Chris's voice and the band really allowed to let go. I mean...I'm not saying it'd be what Chris said - "best Coldplay song ever" or something like that - but it would have been a great b-side or track on Prospekts in place of one of the second versions of LIJ or LOST!.

 

Note: I'm also sure Chris wasn't being serious when he said that...I think

 

But yeah? Anyone mind letting me know there thoughts.

it doesn't sound bad, but it would just sound better with Chris. Same with Fun, and you can definitely hear the Coldplay influences...

God I can practically hear Chris singing it. It's amazing that even without him singing you can tell he wrote it. It would have been a great Coldplay song.

This song is amazing, It's like im swapping her voice for Chris's in my head and hearing him singing it.

I'd have loved to hear this sung by Chris, but regardless Natalie does a great job.

It's such a wonderful song with very lovely lyrics. I'm very sad about it Coldplay gave this song to Natalie Imbruglia. It's also a great song from Natalie, she has a nice voice, but I want this song from Coldplay! :dance:

yes, I don't think we get to listen to this song from them. The only chance that comes to my mind right now would be Coldplay and Natalie coinciding at a sort of festival or charity event, or something of the sort. Maybe then, they would play the song, but I doubt it.

I loved the song, and also wished Coldplay had kept it and released it.

I`ll always now be partial to it being it will be my sons middle name :D

Hopefully they can do a b side of it in future like they did with Gravity. Although on both occasions, I think Natalie Imbruglia and Embrace did a justice job for both songs especially Embrace.

It is a Coldplay track 100%. The insturments are all Jonny, Guy, Will and Chris. I agree its got a great feel to it. What I would do for the Chris Martin audio for Lukas.

 

When I first listened to it my impressions were: Acoustic Guitar sounds like something Chris would come up with, and the piano is amazing. The lyrics, you can tell Natalie is trying her hardest to sound like Chris.

 

then the electric picking kicks in, anyone who has heard and VLV song knows its Jonny, and the drums...I see will drumming up a storm on this one. Guy even has a good bassline here.

 

The bridge is where it really becomes Coldplay though...I think on the next tour we all need to make endless signs and pester pester and pester.

God I want these songs to be recorded so bad. I have such a weird, depressed type feeling listening to these songs, knowing that it should be Coldplay and its not.

Both songs are so damn good..

 

And i'm sure Natalie batted those lashes at me, I probably would have given her Lost!, Violet Hill and whatever else she wanted. So at least we got to keep those :)

 

But the first thing im gonna do once I win the lottery, is bribe Coldplay to record these songs. Along with finishing Famous Old Painters, and then releasing Harmless, Solid Ground, and Don Quixote.
