Old people at Coldplay Concerts

Featured Replies

Oh good grief, people...does age really matter? I was 12 when I went to my first concert, and I have been to a couple of hundred at my ripe old age of 44. I love many different types of music, and really, age does not matter at all, if you're enjoying it. So far this year, I've seen Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Styx, yes, all "old" bands, except Taylor, but in the next 2 months, I have Goo Goo Dolls, Tom Petty, Muse, Jack Johnson, and Mumford and Sons...

The thing about music is that it is ageless...Right, Tracey?

It seriously pains me to hear you speak of "old people" being in their 30's or 40's. This is in no way directed at you, but at people on here who think they are somehow superior because they are younger fans.

hahaha where did you pull this from, your magic top hat?

It seriously pains me to hear you speak of "old people" being in their 30's or 40's. This is in no way directed at you, but at people on here who think they are somehow superior because they are younger fans. I am 25 and in no way consider myself old or "boring" at their concerts, or any concert for that matter. I think everyone needs to remember that each person, regardless of his/her age, responds differently at concerts. I've been to several concerts with "young" people and I couldn't have been less bored by their reactions. However, I've also been to several concerts with "old" people, and have been amazed by how crazy they get. I just think everyone needs to remember that Coldplay did come out with Parachutes over 10 years ago, which explains why they attract "older" fans to their shows. However, I also think everyone needs to look at devoted v. fickle fans, rather than "old" v. "young." Because, let's be honest, there are several "young" fans who react worse than how people are describing "old" fans. Sorry if this came off as being a bit heated; it's just frustrating to hear people make such generalizations.

Good onya for standing up for us oldies. We were young once and, just because I am now 36 years old, does that mean I cant have fun anymore? I adore Coldplay, and I hate to say it, but if you stood next to me in the front row, you would not be able to keep up (Said to the teenagers who are calling us old farts ha ha) Age is a state of mind, and I feel no different to how I did 10 years ago...and anyway, Im pretty much the same age as the boys...so all you youngsters are perving on 4 oldies.....LOL....eeeeewww!!!

^

HE'S JUST 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ME :bigcry:

Age doesn't matter. I think I'm the oldest fan on this forum (yes, older than 44!) and I've been enjoying concerts since I was 13. Music is what keeps me thinking and feeling young, and the Coldplay concert last year in Toronto was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I will keep on attending concerts until I just plain can't do it any more! Can't wait for Coldplay to tour again; I'll make every single show I can. Good news about being older is that you have the money to spend on concerts (including travel to get there) and no longer have to ask your parents if you can go!:wink3:

^Nope, you're not the oldest. There are some who've reached their 50s in here.

Anyway, old or not, you're annoying if you're annoying. I've read Liz's (Lizzybear) experience seing The Strokes at Lollapalooza and I thought what an awesome show ruined by a bunch of drunks. And I believe they're young.

I thought to people who are in their 30s and 40s or older that if you can still enjoy good music, good on you. Everyone should be able to enjoy concerts, as long as you don't bother other people. It's as simple as that.

Represent Dianne !!!!:D

Our last concert was Atoms for Peace, w/ our 15 year old and next is Gary Numan in Oct. with the same kiddo.

(Maybe there will be forum topic on the Numanoids board with a bunch of 44 year olds complaining about teenagers ruining their nostalgia concert experience?):laugh3:

"There are some who've reached their 50s in here."

Yup, been there, done that, still love Coldplay! :laugh3:

Ahhh, well at 48 I am just a baby compared to some of you old farts:laugh3:

the first time I went to see Coldplay there was 2 kids with their grandparents... the grandparents didn't care about the band and the kids only knew clocks, and they got 150 dollar tickets :snobby:

that's my experience about old people at coldplay concerts :P

I saw people of all ages at the concert I went, but I was surrounded mostly by people in their 20's and two couples around their 50's.

I don't care if you are a kid or a very old person as long as you are having a good time and you are not complaining about everything.

Anyway, old or not, you're annoying if you're annoying.

I agree.

There were those in their 50s, 40s, 30s, 20s, teens and probably below all at the Coldplay gig I went to showing why Coldplay are so popular because they are for everybody of every age. It's like that with U2, which is good news for Coldplay because their varied fanbase propably means they'll be going for a good time yet - but of course they've got to continue creating good music for that to happen. Sadly for bands like Green Day it'd seem a bit sad for 40 year olds to still be rocking out to what I call 'piss punk'.

i know it may be a little late to respond to this, but i dont think im superior than "older" fans. I know theres a variety of ages that love coldplay, because coldplay is just amazing. it's just that these particular people next to me were just lame. so I guess I agree that we should look at devoted v. fickle fans instead. im sorry if my comment was rude:\ i just wanted to say that i wanted to be with people that were as excited as i was, no matter the age. and by the way, i dont think 25 is old at all.

Coldplay's music does sound like old people's music. Especially Parachutes.

there are all kinds of ages, I don´t know. Coldplay is a band that can be listened by everyone

two year ago when i was in berlin (viva la vida tour <3) near to me was stadin' old guy and he was so so so so excited, just like me :D i loved that!
