Old people at Coldplay Concerts

Featured Replies

sorry for the misleading title

but recently I went to a free Coldplay tribute concert in Toronto, and it was filled with old people, and I mean really old people.

This one old couple was dancing to Clocks :laugh3:

it was kinda cute

anyway I was really disappointed to see only 1 or 2 young people besides me and my sister :(

now I have never been to a real Coldplay concert

but I was wondering if there are a lot of old people there as well?

the one i went to was really mixed; i didn't see any old (as in elderly) people i think, but there was a good mix of kids, teens, college-aged students, and adults.

really really mixed, many young people, but also 40 year old couples for example i saw ..

but majority under 25 lets say

You said it was a tribute concert? That could be a reason.

when was there a free tribute concert in Toronto??Just curious

i was in the middle of two old people, well they were like in their late 30's or in their 40's but it was kinda annoying cuz they dont get crazy. they were very boring! i wanted to be in the middle of people who were as excited about being there, like i was!

I was surrounded by adults of 35+ at the Nijmegen concert..

They annoyed me big time, because when they started to play In my place, one of them said "Hey, this one is not on Viva la vida?!" :shifty:

oh yeah, and during the coolest part of Politic, they were talking about which drink they wanted to have.. but they did it really loud.. :sad2:

I have nothing against so called old people at Coldplay cooncert, but there was this couple at the last Coldplay concert I went to....and seeing them dancing to them was so ew...haha I don't know how to explain it, but they looked like an oh so intellectual teacher couple who felt so young and hip, because they went to a Coldplay concert....

aaaand there was this woman next to my sister (at the same concert)....she went there with her daughter and she was SO annoying...the daughter was around six and her mum gavve her flowers she should throw at Chris Martin (haha that sounds violent...) when he was standing in front of her...she wasn't even there because of the music I think, but just because of Chris Martin and to talk about his relationship and his private life in general...argh....when he was finally standing in front of her her daughter started throwing the flowers at him, her mum started screaming and chris took the flowers and threw them in the audience haahah

It seriously pains me to hear you speak of "old people" being in their 30's or 40's. This is in no way directed at you, but at people on here who think they are somehow superior because they are younger fans. I am 25 and in no way consider myself old or "boring" at their concerts, or any concert for that matter. I think everyone needs to remember that each person, regardless of his/her age, responds differently at concerts. I've been to several concerts with "young" people and I couldn't have been less bored by their reactions. However, I've also been to several concerts with "old" people, and have been amazed by how crazy they get. I just think everyone needs to remember that Coldplay did come out with Parachutes over 10 years ago, which explains why they attract "older" fans to their shows. However, I also think everyone needs to look at devoted v. fickle fans, rather than "old" v. "young." Because, let's be honest, there are several "young" fans who react worse than how people are describing "old" fans. Sorry if this came off as being a bit heated; it's just frustrating to hear people make such generalizations.

i saw families in barcelona's concert (including parents of 60 years old and so and 5 years old kids, to give an example), that's not bad at all.

at wembley i saw people more close to my age, but also 40's people aswell.

i don't think it's bad at all, why it should be a problem? don't all they went there for the music? then what's the problem in it really, don't people dance at the same songs and buy same t-shirts?

i wonder what will be when another 20 years go by.

btw probably that many old people where you went, they went for some social activity and not for coldplay tribute itself. (i mean old people institutions here take old people to activities involving music very often, but mostly are tributes to other bands and so).

When I went to the concert it was pretty much mix with all ages , I don't think is wrong at all ;let them have fun ,I was actually next to 30 year old couple and they were singing and having a good time just like me (actually the woman helped me shout at chris so he could see me) but the bad thing was that before the concert started a drunk 30 year old woman was dancing a lot and saying bad words and throwing her beer at people now THAT was annoying  ( thanks god all the people near managed to get her out by security people)

I don´t really think it´s the question of age... I hope the younger ones here do not suggest to restrict people over 30 from Coldplay concerts :-)

Which would actually mean that Coldplay themselves would be banned ;)

It is quite understandable that older people, like 60 or so will not jump under the stage, which doesn´t mean they are not enjoying the music and having great time. But I´ve seen people in their teens not jumping and singing along, but chatting and smoking and drinking too much. That was really annoying.

it was 2 weeks ago, just a tiny little thing

so by some of the definitions of old, Ian and I won't be able to go to Coldplay concerts for much longer!!!!

Hey all,

Saw the show in Udine, Italy with my 65-year-old grandparents, and they were the most awesome company I ever could have wished for. Granted, my first live Coldplay experience was from the very back of the stadium (and right behind the portable restrooms) as they couldn't stand for too long, but they absolutely loved it. What could be better than seeing my grandparents stand up and sing along to the end of Viva :)?

Jeff

And I'm doomed :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:

The last one I went to was mixed.. There was even an 11 yr old boy missing..

HOLY CRAP!!! Get the depends out!!! I'm *cough, cough* forty something as well as a few friends of mine here on the board, and in NO WAY feel old, weird, or out of place at a Coldplay concert or any other concert I have attended. I've been doing the concert thing for over 30 something years, and if some teeny bopper or anyone else is staring at me having the most FABULOUS time, they don't need to be there if they find me so amusing or annoying and not the band:D and cudos for any 60 year old having a great time too!!:D

I think the oldest person at the Wembley show was my dad!! :laugh3: Everyone around us kept staring at his embarrassing dad dancing - especially when Girls Aloud were on the stage.

^^^ Aww, good for him^^^ My hubby and I was there:)
