It was so emotional seeing the crowd really quiet for almost all of the song, such a magical moment.

Wow! Maps was awesome!

Look at this! AOL had a countdown of 20 Women who Rock in music! Guess who's number 2!?! :D YAY!

2. Karen O.

Why She Rocks: From orgasmic screeches to epileptic body-thrashing, Karen O is more than an idiosyncratic rocker with an unnatural affinity for spandex. The </B>Yeah Yeah Yeahs' frontwoman is a self-possessed force of nature who'll dizzy you up with lyrical riddles, douse you in beer and then sing you a love song to rest your pretty little head.

Most Rockin' Moment: After cursing a blue streak during the band's homecoming gigs in February, Karen O looked up to the balcony at New York's Bowery Ballroom and dedicated 'Maps' to a special birthday girl: Her mom.

Show Your Bones nominated for Best Alternative Album at the grammys! :D

They have a good chance too: they're up against Thom Yorke, Gnarls Barkley, Artic Monkeys, The Flaming lips, and of course, The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Actually I take that back: They've got some stiff competition! :stunned:

Karen is numero 2. I seriously just absolutely love her style. Represents us girls on the indie scene :D

Yay for Grammys  Although RHCP and Gnarls Barkley are pretty good contenders. I highly doubt that the academy would award neither Thom Yorke, or the Arctics because they arent that accepted in the US, which is a fucking shame. Flaming Lips are pretty good contenders too, but I doubt it.

Yeah, Thome Yorke sadly has no chance... I mean seriously, who in America knows him or Radiohead for that matter?

Not saying I don't love Thom Yorke or Radiohead, just talking about how ignorant Americans can be... radiohead is good stuff

I like RHCP. But I believe that Gnarls will, they have been a lil too popular within different genres as well as people

Gnarls will win Record of the Year.

Up there in the hall of fame with Coldplay!!

^ Oh, Yeah- Coldplay did win that...

If Gnarles wins- OMG. They've had a good year though. Do you know how many times they've played "Crazy?"

I think I went craaaaaaaa-zay!

LOL. Anyway! I really, really want YYY to win. Show Your Bones kicks ass!!!!

Has this been posted yet? Anyways, there you go

Karen (Dem)O

Reader Mark piques our interest with this query:

Hey-- there was a 16-track album floating around last night of a lot of Karen O's home recordings. You guys hear anything or manage to snag it? It got pulled off before I had a chance to grab it... Thx m

Here's what we've got for ya, Mark: The tracks that were circulating last night come from a home demo Karen put to CD-R (labeled KO At Home), unearthed in TVOTR guitarist Dave Sitek's Brooklyn apartment. It even came with a cover!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs "It's Blitz!" new album out April 14

Exclusive: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Talk New Album

Yeah Yeah Yeahs' first full-length album in three years, It's Blitz!, will arrive in the U.S. April 14. And with it, the trio will unveil their all-new sound -- one that has Nick Zinner predominantly ditching his guitar for a synth.

"When Karen orders, 'No guitars for Nick!' it makes you approach things in a different way," Zinner says in the cover story of SPIN's March issue (on newsstands next week). "Our producer was flabbergasted," drummer Brian Chase adds. "He was pleading, 'Nick, you're the best guitarist we have in rock'n'roll right now and here you are, playing all these synths.'"

The 10-track album, the follow-up to 2006's Show Your Bones, was recorded in numerous rural locations across the country, from El Paso's 1,700 acre Sonic Ranch studio to a dairy farm in Massachusetts. It was produced by TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek and Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Talking Heads, INXS). Bird and the Bee maestro/Lily Allen producer Greg Kurtsin, TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, and saxophonist Stuart Bogie (Antibalas), among others, contribute to the new album.

According to the band, It's Blitz! was inspired by the '70s disco collaborations between Italian producer Giorgio Moroder and R&B songstress Donna Summer, Joy Division, and, well, Karen O's love of dancing.

"There's no comparison to the feeling you get when you're dancing like your life depends on it," Karen O says.

It's Blitz! tracklist:

1. "Zero" (4:25/ Eric Biondo - trumpet, Stuart Bogie - saxophone)

2. "Heads Will Roll" (3:41)

3. "Soft Shock" (3:53)

4. "Skeletons" (5:02)

5. "Dull Life" (4:08)

6. "Shame and Fortune" (3:31)

7. "Runaway" (5:13 / Jane Scarpantoni - cello, Greg Kurstin - piano)

8. "Dragon Queen" (4:02 / Tunde Adebimpe - vocals, Stuart Bogie - saxophone, Kyp Malone - tambourine)

9. "Hysteric" (3:50 / Eric Biondo - trumpet, Stuart Bogie - saxophone)

10. "Little Shadow" (3:57/ Imaad Wasif - guitar)

The album cover for it is amazing.

looking forward to it
