I was and am only talking about Creationists who don't believe in Evolution at all, and who take the Bible literally. I know there are different types of beliefs out their but I wasn't talking about them at all.

Utter Nonsense. You don't need to know every Relgion in detail before you discuss evolution vs Creationism.

People tend to make the mistake of giving creationism equal weight to evolution because they are both regarded as theories. This of course is not true. Evolution is a fact and Creationism/I.D. is pure rubbish.

No. I think people's problems with you and Arwen is that you think you can freely batter anyone who believes in religion, not creationism. Damn right on creationism, I think it's unbelievable myself how people take it seriously but don't even bother going further down the line and criticising everyone who follows religion as a whole. It's been a part of human culture for at least 30,000 years so just accept that it's there people. No one tells you to believe in this or that, but please for the love of God respect what to some is an important part of their identity!

Although I typically enjoy a good debate, I've grown increasingly convinced that threads of this sort never furfill any real intellectual purpose, but just become a playground for self-righteous, arrogant douchebags. If you're generally interested in the subject, a coldplay forum is the last place you should go to compare stances.

I can criticise religion because it impacts on my life. To say that its off limits its a joke, If you want to live like that go live in Middle East where if you say you do not believe the punishment is death. I dont care if people believe in god but keep it to yourselves and out of education, science & medicine because as my favourite quote says, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

 

Also, where was religion before 30,000 years? God just sat back and waited for humans to naturally, randomly evolve (random in the sense of mutation and genetic variation)? Why didnt he just create man whole? surely he could if he created life? Its funny how the religious cherry pick what they believe.

I am not going around killing people who believe in religion, infact all my family and friends are religious. I don't remember ever insulting anyone on this forum for their religious beliefs. But I have every right to criticize it, and that is all we are doing. I find it funny that we have the freedom to discuss and criticize everything we want, but when it comes to religion we have to back down. And btw, slavery has also been a part of the human culture for a long time, should we "just accept it" as well?

I am not saying religion is like slavery, but I am saying that just because something has been around for a long time doesn't mean it is faultless and we can't ciriticize it.

Reilly, I am really tired of this, so I am honestly asking you to please tell me what you think my position is and what you think I am trying to say, because I am finding it really difficult to understand what you are saying. Time and time again on this thread I have said that people who believe in both religion and science, (like god put evolution in motion) I have said that their position is resonable, I was just criticizing the hard core Creationists,
