Evolution vs. Creationism!

I think if they're gonna teach one thing they should have to teach everything.

I think schools are very inconsistent when it comes to religion, like how they're okay with people wearing turbans and stuff due to the religion for it, but they're not okay with some other things related to different religions. Discrimination or trying to not be seen as being discriminative or what?

Do you mean if they are going to teach Christian creationism they should teach the creation stories of all other religions?

DO YOU THINK CREATIONISM SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN SCIENCE CLASSROOMS AT SCHOOL?

NO

cause it's not science.

I liked learning about creationism in religion class, I found it interesting.

But it shouldn't be apart of science.

Oh wait, you're referring to science class.

I don't think so because it just doesn't seem like something that's related to science in a way.

It can be taught in Religious Education, but not as fact. It is a theory - and not a scientific one. Evolution on the other hand is a scientific theory however, and so (although you didn't ask it - since the thread is about both creationism and evolution) and so it should be taught in Science.

But to teach Creationism in the way that some people want it to be taught you'd have to consider teaching chemistry and alchemy in equal amounts as fact as well as astronomy and astrology in equal amounts all as fact.

I Agree tammi they don't actually teach much religion at all

in school I think we've had like 1 hour a week and half the time it's about something else like whether euthanasia is right

I don't get what you mean by the second part of your post. Chemistry, astronomy, and astrology are all taught here.

I edited slightly. I perhaps didn't explain myself properly.

ASTROLOGY! WTF! LIKE STAR SIGNS!?

YOU'RE TAUGHT THAT ?

:laugh3:

I know.

Is it taught as fact?

And if so was this class run by the same woman who told you that homosexuality was a choice for half of the people who are homosexuals?

I have to go by the way, bye!

Well, our school has a planetarium, so when you take an astronomy elective, they teach the principles and origins of astrology.

Oh okay now I understand. :P And I agree with that.

Bahahaha no!

It's actually taught as a load of bullshit. Not in those terms, of course.

I just poked my sister. She punched me in the arm.

Note to self: Don't physically poke people.

My sister is 10 years younger than me, I can poke her all I want and she won't say a word :sneaky:

"God' created us to evolve, as the world itself is ever changing.

all ima sayin.:P

THIS.

Evolution,

but everybody to their own beliefs.

Question to people,

what are/were you thought at school?

Our minister for SCIENCE wanted to introduce a book to schools saying that evolution was a hoax.

Majority of people were like Lololol Fuck off D:

at school they used to skip the chapters in science books about evolution:blank:, i remeber last year we talked briefly about it with our biology professor and he was being critical of the misiters and priests at school who didn't allow him to teach about it, although at this Christian/youth movement thing i used to go to everyone was pretty clear that they believe in evolution in some way...i guess that proves that even the catholic church is devided on this subject.

as for my own opinion: i was taught not to take the bible litterarly, i believe in both evolution and god.

My sister is 10 years younger than me, I can poke her all I want and she won't say a word :sneaky:

Wtf?

Why yes, yes it did!

I genuinly think Arwen Evenstar knows nothing about religion so shouldn't even be bothering. Know the subject before you debate.

I think it's meant to be an open discussion. So it's not Arwen Eventar vs Everyone Else, just people's opinions.

I'd agree that she doesn't seem to understand the complexities of those who feel they believe in both science and spirituality.
