But the video is amazing.Old-coloured piano was so good-looking!But the song is terrible,sorry, i am a bit dissapointed.:cry:

k ur not a coldplayer.....first of all the song is incredible as are all Coldplay songs (not even kidding)...it IS melodious, and Chris just said that because he's Chris...u should no that

I really enjoy it, though the chord progression is pretty basic.....but that's not the point ! The lyrics, what I can make out at least, are very lovely, uplifting, and Christmassy.

... I'm not following your logic but okay. Coldplay will never sound like Paramore. If you don't like it, then that's fine but it's a beautiful Coldplay sounding song that I think is very representative of them (even if it is a Christmas song).

He's clearly been influenced by Wedding Bells, yes. Isn't he allowed to take parts of unreleased songs and put them together to make a better one?

I personally think it's not their best, but I still like it a lot. The subtle violin arrangement in this song pretty much trumps that of any other Coldplay song thus far (including Viva), and the story the song follows is a nice switch. Also, a tempo change that actually works is hard to pull off in a song without it being blatantly obvious and jarring, but Coldplay did very well this time. The lyrics could be better (Wedding Bells, anyone?), and the melody in some places is kind of bland, but overall it's a great Christmas song, the first I've heard in a while.

 

I'm not saying this just because I'm a fan, I'm actually analyzing the music. You can't just assume everybody who likes Christmas lights is a stupid fan who eats up anything an artist puts out. Some of us actually like the music, just because...well...we like it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Ohh come on It's not true....

If you make an opinion poll, you will see that for each "Coldplayer" there's a song (or more songs) which don't reflects our taste.

Considering this christmas song lovely, beautiful, awsome...or whatever...doesn't mean we take Coldplay music just for granted...meaning that every song they do is great even if it sucks!! :D

 

It's just a matter of taste...you (and other coldplayers) don't like this song...me and other ones love this one, so?? :D

Well as AnnaElisabeth said, it's not bad to use songs they don't release as inspiration. As someone who writes songs I can say I use ideas from songs I didn't like all the time because it's a waste to let good ideas go simply because there are also parts of the song you don't like. That doesn't make a song bad, the only reason you now think it's bad is because they did play Wedding Bells once.
