I always thought it sounded cheesy, especially the title... But I did like the Keynote version

Probably for the best. I know the song probably would have benefited from a full band treatment, but Chris's performance during the Keynote left a real sour taste in my mouth, anyway.

 

That said, recycled lyrics haven't stopped Coldplay before. X&Y has numerous songs with lyrical reuse.

I didn't like the lyrics much, although I don't even remember why now.

Awwe I loved Wedding Bells, but I figured they would not put it on LP5 based on the fact that there are a lot of shared lyrics with Christmas Lights. :shrug:

that is a positive way of looking at it!

 

at first i felt disappointed because i very much liked the concept (as i grandly began to imagine it in my head) of the song in a larger album. however, i have to feel if its not included there would be something better. with b-sides or eps i also think a recorded version could still see the light of day.

 

this does sort of make me wonder more about the album though. the magazine interview now seems the only way to consider how it will be and i felt that left something to be desired

I kind of didnt expect it to be on LP5! And when I heard Christmas Lights I was sure about it, cause the songs are similar in some parts. Its a lovely song and I really like it, but I'm happy that there will be 10 /less or more/ completely new songs on the album. Once they decide its done. :D
