What Was Your Biggest Disappointment of 2010?

Featured Replies

I wasn't expecting the reflex of projectile vomitting after looking at her face. Lady GagGag.

Half named woman and men with plunging knecklines, that is what happened! When a male or female sets eyes on the video containing such sights they instantly believe it is a good song. Have you even saw a naked woman in a Coldplay video? No, because then there is nothing to distract you so then you actually listen to the song and enjoy the sound and the lyrcis, instead of the lubed up women gyrating!

That's why I very rarely watch videos. Great songs work perfectly well without them.:smug:

I'll second that, even though I said it first! :laugh3:

some of the music that has come out is really crap

what happened to all the great music

The gods of bad music forced everyone to stop searching beyond the radio for new and great music. DUH.

My biggest disappointment was Age of Adz. I know a lot of people really enjoyed it, but I preferred his past albums. Or maybe it was Flamingo. I kind of think that Brandon making a solo album was a disappointment in itself.

You're obviously looking in the wrong places.

While I'm not the biggest Sufjan listener in the world, I found quite a bit of enjoyment in Age of Adz. But I agree with you on Flamingo, which just felt lifeless throughout much of it. Not completely disposable, but I can't say I would be looking forward to another solo project of his.

I was also let down by the Interpol album, which starts off with promise and a few good songs, then completely tanks by the latter half. It was better than Our Love to Admire, but I'm still holding out on an Interpol effort that's up to snuff with the first two.

Night Train by Keane was an utter s***fest. It may be an EP, which is why I didn't hit the panic button, but I'd hate for them to continue down that track.

Otherwise, a lot of good stuff this year. Even albums that I was originally lukewarm about (Stars, Vampire Weekend, etc.) grew on me immensely in the months after. And I still haven't given Congratulations a proper listen, believe it or not, but it seems like the epitome of a love-it-or-hate-it album.

Flamingo. It's just so boring. Interpol too.

Yeah, true enough.

nice pun haha :laugh3:

Yeah, cause I feel it's been great.

yeah maybe this year was awesome for you but not for me..

this year i think i've listened to the greenhornes, arcade fire, mgmt most likely the same as you i think... but... still not that great.

Totally disappointed with the new bands, they're not really impress me.

I'd rather listen to A Saucerful of Secrets time to time rather than this year top 10 albums. Rock/Indie has become so electronic and "pop"ish. I'd like to see more space rock, vintage stuff, more progressive and psychedelic like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Procol Harum, Bowie and more. I miss the old stuff where we can't find right now. Brian Eno did a good job maintaining his ambient stuff, Radiohead too.. U2 exceptionally the best stadium rock band, Coldplay is chasing them, Killers is resting while Mr Flowers solo album not really went well, hm... i was hoping Blur to come out for a new album this year but unfortunately... a lot to mention here....

but this year i've finally saw legendary Echo & the Bunnymen, The Flaming Lips and Simply red. they were great!!!

Want progressive/psychedelic stuff like Pink Floyd? Check out The Besnard Lakes. Or maybe Tame Impalla.

Want some rock and roll? Check out the Black Keys.

Want some vintage sounding rock? Try out Yukon Blonde or Zeus. Two new bands that have that old time rock sound with compromising the current indie sounds.

Tokyo Police Club wasn't full of electro pop.

You're just looking in the wrong places. I don't get how people go around decrying modern music longing for the oldies. Those sort of sounds and genres are still out there. There are just so many bands and artists you have to know where to look.

Try the new Ariel Pink album, miloboy7 (lol)

Apart from Radiohead (probably) , I'm not really excited about any possible 2011 releases. I want to hear new bands.

tame impala? they are psychedelic and for me there pretty much re-call late period of Beatles. yeah u can say a bit pink floyd but no progressive at all.. im discussing the farfisa and hammond here, u were down straight to stratocaster and precision. My goodness..

Black Keys is american blues rock.....

Vintage sounding rock doesnt mean u can just raw up into music just like that. what im saying is the materials that they brought. It is so important to have a good materials, 2010 albums is lack of good materials, technically the vibes is not there. why usually the first album is always the best from others?

Tokyo police club = The strokes + Oasis + The Beatles.

I did listen to the band 6 months ago, Hot body Rub reminds me of 70's Bowie, they also did a song similar to Sade's Hang on to your Love. I think song title is Round and round. but they're still plastic. hopefully next album will be much more good than this.

Well, the psychedelic highlights of the year were Broken Bells, The Besnard Lakes, Susanne Sundfør (at times) and MGMT. I'm very much into psychedelic music myself.

If you like Echo And the Bunnymen I'll assume you'll like Warpaint who have the same 4AD dreamy sound.

Oh, and definatly Peter Gabriel if you're into prog rock. His older stuff for 80's and 90's prog and his new album for, well, I don't know it's a hate/love affair.

Oh Mgmt second album definitely Psychedelic surf but I believe that Broken Bells is more on Alternative & Indie Rock same goes with The BEsnard Lakes.

Warpaint is a female version of Echo & The Bunnymen, hahaha. some of their song is a bit psychedelic.. more "dark" for me..

Peter Gabriel is a great musician, ive always dream that he will do a side project with david gilmour!!!!
