Grace.
I'm just asking this out of curiosity, to the people who are naming James Blake's album as one of their favourites, what exactly about the album is it? I listened to it (only once, so perhaps I need to listen more) and found myself struggling to get through it.
bee_panda
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972 Stuff you can really lose yourself in It's a very haunting album..I think it's because of Ben Frost? He's the producer

The Final Track
Yeah, I like "You" a lot. I haven't dared to put on "Change" yet though. Duet with his mum? Seriously.
Grace.
The Kills - Blood Pressures and The Middle East - I Want That You Are Always Happy Not better than their EP, but still worth a listen.
Violet
WUT. The Middle East has an album out!? :surprised: Man. I really need to start visiting the Aussie thread more often. I'm clearly missing out on things I need to know. :bomb:
Italian Plastic
James Blake album is the worst I've heard this year. I'm not sure about albums this year eh. The best releases this year have been singles and EP's (Street Halo - Burial, Burial/Four Tet/Thom Yorke and Another Girl - Jacques Greene) hmmmm
MrMagpie
Don't you love how in the P4K review of TKOL they referenced something being like James Blake. That is when I stopped reading the review.

Italian Plastic
yeah it sucks :( nah but his ep's were alright. it sounds stupid but he sounds REALLY indie now...lol...i just don't like it
Violet
I don't see how you think that sounds indie. I get more of a pop vibe than anything else.
The Escapist
I still love James Blake. It's just so, sublime. Anyway, what other albums have been standouts so far? I'm into Kurt Vile, Little Scream, Pains of being pure at heart, grouper and battles at the moment.
deaths_friend
i enjoyed the james blake album but i just thought he took the whole minimalism thing a bit too far. madly in love with the new Lykke Li album. i have listened to the leaks of Battles and Fleet Foxes a few times each but i think i'll reserve my judgement until they get their general release. i find it easier to listen to an album after i read a few reactions to it so i know what to listen out for.
