That would be so awesome! It would make sense with the festival dates to have a new single. If this is true, they've done a very good job at keeping it under wraps.

Ok, I don't want to be the pessimistic one around here but I really REALLY want to believe this news but any evidence of sorts would be greatly appreciated. Again, I am not the party pooper, I just want to be a bit realistic. That's all!

Locust7 has a good reputation but I believe he's some employee of Parlophone/EMI.

It would make great sense particularly around Glastonbury time as it's broadcast to million live on the BBC (T in The Park on the BBC as well) giving great exposure to a new song/single.

I think anything between July '11 and very early 2012 is a given, I think its most likely to be around October, no sooner because we would have heard much more by now if it was any sooner, also I think the band want to wait a while for the songs to get airplay and into their fans head before they tour on the new material

If a New single sooner than expected that probably means before the festivals and they will promote it singing it live!!!

Guys, this is big news. Yesterday, I met coldplay in a fan meet near the beehive. I asked why they are hiding the release date of their new album and, more importantly, when it will finally come out! They were slow to respond and chris refused to give me and us coldplayers and info on the new album. Johnny was less concerned for hiding new info on lp5. He didn't tell when when the release date was, but he did tell me that we should be expecting a new single sooner than expected!!! Of course, I asked him when and what the name of the single was, but that was all he was going to tell me... I wonder how soon it will really be!! Thank you johnny, for finally giving us some lp5 info

The reason I'm getting excited is because of the South African tour dates. It's not a festival. It's the first actual tour dates, which means the album might be out sooner rather than later. With this announcement, it makes the story's timeline of a new single coming out at the end of this month or the beginning of next a little more believable. I'm still a little skeptical, but it's more of a possiblilty now.

There's always speculation about album titles but I've noticed that fans have been referring to the next album as "LP5" for so long that it almost feels like that is the title!

 

In answer to your question, unlike some song titles the name of the album was decided and settled on very early in the process.

Well I had hopes we'd get news by today, but it doesn't seem likely any longer. I suppose I thought Locust meant something in referring to Wild Beast's release date.

 

Either way, if something is coming in May that's be great. I can't really discern anything from all we've been hearing lately. I suppose I still expect the release date to be technically in the fall. Which means no single till at least August probably. I'd love to be wrong...

 

What they should do is put out an EP before the festivals. That way its not just a single that feels like its followed by nothing.

i also had a weird premonition thingy the other day -- well, i suddenly thought "May 13th" and my Coldplay senses were tingling... so, it was not nearly as detailed as your dream was. :P

I would be fine with a single. I just want something period. I don't care what it is. I would just be glad to have something to listen to this summer.

I agree, I think they could do something like they did for "Christmas Lights," where they only really announced it a week beforehand. That would be ideal to me--it cuts down on the waiting agony!
