I think it's okay when you check their facebook pictures, who their partner is, their music profile, their twitter account to know what's going on on their minds... Ultimately get to know lots of things about them and them (without planning it, it's only natural curiosity). Then, when you find them in real life (casualities of life) and you look at them... They look back but obviously you're an stranger to them... They don't know you actually know them but yes you do!

I know what you mean when you want to just know everything about someone/something you're interested in, but if it's people I stop at things they don't want others to know necessarily. (If they're dead it's all fair game, good luck finding out huge unnecessary heaps of information about them, though.)
