I leave for two weeks and I miss another mixtape exchange? :bigcry:

It kinda just happened. Sorry.

It's okay, I'll just have to wait for the next one :phu:

Thumbs up if you think Violet should host next.

 There's no thumbs up button

Does that count?

ETA: I don't like the way that smiley is winking. It makes me feel all sorts of lecherous.

I haven't even listened to mine yet because i've been really ill the last few days :-( please bear with me partner ?

MY REVIEW:

1) This first track sounds VERY familiar, I really love it, starts off with a Piano and then guitars. The vocals sound a bit like...Mew?? The guitars sound like Travis as well hahaha! But my guess would be...Mew!??

2) Hmm...another Mew sounding track from the sounds of the instruments. Heavy guitar riff. The vocals are different...a different artist from the first track. I have no idea who this is. It's a little depressing, but I like a lot of the instrument work on this track. "All I ever wanted, all I ever needed was here in my arms" Sounds like an 80's track.

3) Electronic riffs! I really like the bass on this. STOP! STOP BREATHING!. I like this. IMAGINE NONE OF THIS REAL, I'LL JUST DANCE THE WAY I FEEL! Probably my favourite so far.

4) Love the instrumentation. Don't like the vocals. It is catchy though! :D

5) I know this voice! BEIRUT!?!?!? Am I right, I think I am. I don't listen to much Beirut, but I like songs like Elephant Gun, I really like this track. I need to listen to more Beirut.

6) I AM KLOOT. I don't really listen to them much myself, but my mate is always playing them, I do have Sky at Night but I haven't really listened to it. I will have to!

7) Sounds a little bit like Chris Martin, but it's not! :laugh3: I reeeeeeally love this song. Oh my god...what is it!?!?!? Starts off very slow and picks up loads of pace and changes into an almost completely different song. WOW.

8) Strange song...the vocals seem to take a back seat at first and then there is no vocals for like half the song to the end, hmm. I think I like.

9) Niiiiiiiiiice. Electronic. Female vocals. I'm not sexist, but I don't really listen to female vocalists, I just don't enjoy them THAT much, there are exceptions. I quite like this one.

10) THE NATIONAL! I'm sure, I can get those vocals straight away. I think I do like them, and they seem to be big on this forum. This summer I am off to Leeds Festival but I am torn between seeing them or Bombay Bicycle Club. If I didn't see them, I think I would regret it!

11) I like the groove, I like the rhythm, I like the vocals. 90's??? Nice.

12) The Naked and Famous- Girls Like You! I only downloaded their album about two weeks ago after hearing Punching In A Dream and THIS song is my favourite on the album after only one listen, It really is very mature for a debut band. Brilliant song. It really is.

13) Very weird song, but I like it, heck I've liked the whole mixtape. A nice little song with weird instruments.

14) A nice acoustic song to end the mixtape, again, I don't know who it is, but I do like it. Nice harmonies. If I'm being honest, after about 3 and 4 mixtape exchanges, this is the best mixtape I have ever been given. Thank you very much!!!

:D

P.S.: I am just putting the finishing touches to my mixtape, should be done by tomorrow or Saturday!

12) The Naked and Famous- Girls Like You! I only downloaded their album about two weeks ago after hearing Punching In A Dream and THIS song is my favourite on the album after only one listen, It really is very mature for a debut band. Brilliant song. It really is.

You know, I would very much like to host one at some point.

I haven't even listened to mine yet because i've been really ill the last few days :-( please bear with me partner ?

Awww. I hope you get better soon.

Dude, Beirut is so good. You really should spend more listening time on him.

Given how much I love The National, I think you would highly regret missing them, too. You should see them.

Oh, dear. :| I heard two tracks by those guys, and they reminded me of Passion Pit gone wrong.

Ok so none of the uploading sites are recognizing my .zip folder...is there another possible way I could submit my tape?

EDIT: Maybe my computer is just being stupid. I'll try on my sister's laptop and hope it works.

I'm sorry to hear you're having so many problems. Which sites have you used thus far?

I've tried mediafire, rapidshare, hotfile, and megaupload.

Oh and when I tried to email the file to myself so that I could access it from my sister's laptop, Google wasn't showing me the file either!

Any ideas as to why? Every other music file and folder is showing, it's just all my .zip folders that won't appear when I click the browse button.

do you know how to use winrar? make a rar file, maybe it will work

MY REVIEW:

1) This first track sounds VERY familiar, I really love it, starts off with a Piano and then guitars. The vocals sound a bit like...Mew?? The guitars sound like Travis as well hahaha! But my guess would be...Mew!??

Nope! They're Thirteen Senses, a not so well known band from the UK with a lot of talent and this song is their most famous, it was used in a movie (Les Chevaliers de l'air, I think?). One of my favourite bands.

Mew? :/ The band is Anberlin but this is a cover from a 1990 track called Enjoy The Silence originally performed by Depeche Mode. I thought I'd spice it up with a more rock-ish track.

3) Electronic riffs! I really like the bass on this. STOP! STOP BREATHING!. I like this. IMAGINE NONE OF THIS REAL, I'LL JUST DANCE THE WAY I FEEL! Probably my favourite so far.

Ugh! good! I was scared of your reaction to this one, as it is very different form the rest of the tape. Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Dance The Way I Feel.

4) Love the instrumentation. Don't like the vocals. It is catchy though! :D

How dare you!!!!!! hahaha just kidding. Depeche Mode, in their original form with the song Precious.

5) I know this voice! BEIRUT!?!?!? Am I right, I think I am. I don't listen to much Beirut, but I like songs like Elephant Gun, I really like this track. I need to listen to more Beirut.

Yep it's Beirut! I was an absolute creep and I looked at almost your whole last.fm charts and I saw you hadn't listened to that one song. It's my favourite one. I'm seeing them this summer and I am sooo pumped.

6) I AM KLOOT. I don't really listen to them much myself, but my mate is always playing them, I do have Sky at Night but I haven't really listened to it. I will have to!

Yep! I knew you had listened to the band before but not to this specific track and this one just brings up so many emotions when I listen to it. The Same Deep Water As Me is the title of the song.

7) Sounds a little bit like Chris Martin, but it's not! :laugh3: I reeeeeeally love this song. Oh my god...what is it!?!?!? Starts off very slow and picks up loads of pace and changes into an almost completely different song. WOW.

I am so glad you love it, it's one of my favourites of all time. It's Old Crow Black Night Stand Still by Hey Rosetta! The band is Canadian, may I point out. :charming:

8) Strange song...the vocals seem to take a back seat at first and then there is no vocals for like half the song to the end, hmm. I think I like.

It's very ambient. Chris (Tnspieler1012) put it on my mixtape a year ago and it was love at first sight. The band's name is Hammock.

9) Niiiiiiiiiice. Electronic. Female vocals. I'm not sexist, but I don't really listen to female vocalists, I just don't enjoy them THAT much, there are exceptions. I quite like this one.

hahahaha I thought they were female vocals too!! and everyone does (or almost) until we look up the artist hehe. Yeah it's actually a guy, don't feel embarassed, he oes sound like a girl haha. Absofacto - Synthesocietal.

Yep I knew you'd recognize them, but this song is my favourite of them and you hadn't listened to it yet on last.fm hehe. CHOOSE THE NATIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

11) I like the groove, I like the rhythm, I like the vocals. 90's??? Nice.

Okkervil River is a band that is often said to have more of a 80's or 90's feel to it, when it's actually quite recent. Great band btw, had a hard time picking one song.

12) The Naked and Famous- Girls Like You! I only downloaded their album about two weeks ago after hearing Punching In A Dream and THIS song is my favourite on the album after only one listen, It really is very mature for a debut band. Brilliant song. It really is.

AHH YOUR LAST.FM LIED. Psht. It said you hadn't lsitened to this one yet haha. and I agree with you 100% on this (even though Eddie doesn't).

13) Very weird song, but I like it, heck I've liked the whole mixtape. A nice little song with weird instruments.

The Rumour Said Fire, a danish band. The song is Sentimentally Falling, first single of their first album and quite catchy, I must say.

14) A nice acoustic song to end the mixtape, again, I don't know who it is, but I do like it. Nice harmonies. If I'm being honest, after about 3 and 4 mixtape exchanges, this is the best mixtape I have ever been given. Thank you very much!!!

Wooo! It's The Rumour Said Fire again, with their most popular song called The Balcony. I'm happy to hear this  Thank you

Arf I hate Passion Pit :P Except for one song though and I quite like TNAF.

I've tried mediafire, rapidshare, hotfile, and megaupload.

That's really strange. I've never had a problem with those before. Maybe there's something wrong with the file itself. Try making another folder and see what happens.

Nice choices in there, Marie. :awesome:

Ahhh, really? Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Thank you  and yup

Oh, dear. :| I heard two tracks by those guys, and they reminded me of Passion Pit gone wrong.

I like both of them. I'd say that The Naked and Famous sound a tiddy bit like Passion Pit, but they're minus as many synths and stuff. Both bands have their upsides and downsides.

I'll say that it didn't help that the two tracks of TNAF I heard sounded eerily similar. I also have a thing about voices, and somehow, I'm not nearly as bothered by Passion Pit as I am TNAF. That's something I can't really explain.

That's really strange. I've never had a problem with those before. Maybe there's something wrong with the file itself. Try making another folder and see what happens.

I did and it still doesn't work. No luck with the .rar file either; it started uploading but then I kept getting error messages.

Uggh this has never happened before!!!

Hmmm. The only other thing I can think of is that the site(s) you're using are extremely busy, but even then, I don't think it'd be that persistent in telling you there's a problem. I wish I knew how to help, but I don't. :\
