people are so sensitive :shy:

Actually, this has less to do with people being sensitive and more about people like me not wanting to see something as fucked up as FUCKING PAINTED NAKED PEOPLE ON BIKES. I mean, you could've at the very least spoilered it and warned us what we were going to click on. Good Lord.

Wow what an interesting discussion about an irrelevant topic.

Going back to the topic, I guess it was not Chris's most smartest move to use the sample of a very well known song for ETIAW after all the plagiarism claims for Viva la Vida. After all, maybe he is a big time plagiarist.

OK. Here we go.

1. It's not that well-known. I mean, I never heard of the song until Coldplay sampled it.

2. Even if that were the case, sampling does not equate to plagiarism. It happens frequently in certain genres of music (e.g. hip-hop). It's not a big deal.

Don't be Violet, you were expressing your feelings!

OK. Thanks, Alexa.

What I am trying to say is that it is a very risky move to sample a song, especially after you have been accused several times of plagiarism. They used to make great hits (Yellow, Clocks) without sampling or using well known rhythms.

And for the record, I have been advocating in defense of the boys since ETIAW was released, but I am finally starting to understand that this is no good.

It's full of samples in music, really full.

The problem is that after viva thing, some people though of it as plagiarism ..

The song is horrible, it's not about if they sampled it or not, it's just bad. The video is so cute, but I seriously can't watch it if I don't press the mute button.

Also, if we thought they're trying to attract a younger audience with the new songs the video confirms it, it's so... like a teenager vid  they look good, have colorful stuff, etc. :dazzled:

Like I said, there's a difference between the two, and most people involved in music understand that. I don't see the point you're trying to make.

I didn't even know who Satriani was before the plagiarism thing.

Yeah, I pretty much didn't, either. The only thing I might've known beforehand is how he's responsible for one of two songs on "Guitar Hero: World Tour" that I can't beat when I'm playing guitar on expert.

YEAH PEOPLE STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE

SARCASM IN CAPS HOW CLEVER

Edit: and as to the satriani thing......I think it's crap

Don't know. Maybe Chris is very brave and knowingly decided to sample "I Go To Rio" because he knows that he did not committed any plagiarism in Viva la Vida (which I believe is the case). But for the impartial eye it wasn't the smartest move at all. He could have come with an entirely original song and re-vindicate himself.

I really don't like the fact that a band of the quality and success of Coldplay is still writing on purpose new kind of music just for the sake of attracting new type of audiences. They're successful enough to do that.

If a band like Coldplay does that, it seems they after success and making more money instead of making good and better music.

Talk was sampled.

SO YOU DONT KNOW WHERE YOURE GOING BUT YOU WANNAAA TALKK

DUNA NUNA NUNA NANA!

Talk was sampled.

very good point. I guess the difference is that it isn't a mainstream (discotheque type) song.

The sampling on Talk was good. The sampling on ETIAW wasn't.

They're going to sample Baby One More Time and Judas.

I just fell out of my chair laughing. That was a knee-slapper.
