New Coldplay eh?

A Spell A Rebel Yell a la Twilight (yes, I said it) volume 2, anyone?

I actually really disliked ASARY when it came out, but that was fine with me because it was a random B-side and not a lead single off a new album (I love it now, though). If Paradise had been the B-side to ETIAW, I feel like I'd be much less worried about the album. Paradise just screams B-side to me (if anything at all), and I feel like unless the rest of the stuff on the album is going to match it, it should have just been stuck on the back of ETIAW. I can't believe the guys are as proud of it as they seem.

Wedding Bells will show up on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack.

On a side note, do you guys think that Muse has also hit that point-of-no-return the way Coldplay most likely has?

oh my god

^^ Whaaaa?

I don't know about Muse, ask Christina lol.

Lol at least then the Coldplay fans would stop begging for it to be released. :bigcry:

Trying to look at your question from as non-biased point of view possible, and . . . no I don't think so.

While The Resistance certainly wasn't as good as it could have been, it still had some redeeming tracks on it like MK Ultra and Unnatural Selection that reminded me of their older songs. And Muse was able to experiment on TR and have it turn out well: Exogenesis Symphony. (which is why it annoys me when the Coldplay fans are all saying "U GIUZ JUST DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT COLDPLAY EVOLVED" because writing a ~15 minute symphony is quite a change from Showbiz, and Exo is one of my favorite Muse songs).

So, basically I feel that while Muse kind of poked at pop music a bit, they haven't lost their touch and they are still using their talents to make good music. I can especially see this through the little riffs between songs live (for example, HELSINKI JAM. WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE THIS. It was actually one of my favorite moments of their whole show).

Anyways.

Haha :wacky:

Speaking of Twilight soundtrack, who do you think will be on it this time?

As much as I hate it I'm going to say Muse (3/3 previous movies have had them on it :bigcry: </3) and maybe someone like Fleet Foxes? (I don't know what sort of people Fleet Foxes are, only their music haha).

As much as I hate the movies they actually generally pick out some good artists for the soundtrack. (Thom Yorke, Muse, Metric, etc)

oh my god

Imagine the immense irony. "Evolution" my ass... it's like a Gyrados evolving into a Magikarp.

And on a Muse note, their jams, symphony, and select songs are pretty good but they're on a steady decline. Their decision to cut all of OoS from the sets is further evidence. I have my hopes for LP6, I think... moar like Screenager plz.

I'm Yours is actually one of my least favorite Metric songs, and I do think that NSC is among the worst Muse songs as well. I don't understand why that series couldn't just settle for an OST by someone who's interested in making it.

I don't like I'm Yours either, it doesn't even sound like Metric.

They haven't cut all OoS songs from their setlists, someone actually asked Matt that on Twitter. He said something along the lines of "only the crappy ones" (lolque wat crappy OoS songs?! :P) So they'll probably keep PiB, then have CE (please please please (let me get what I want? hahahah)), Bliss, and New Born in and out of rotation.

Me too, I think Muse are really at a turning point in their career where they could either make it or break it as becoming one of those huge bands. . . I think LP6 will be awesome, but of course we won't know until it's released (and yes moar screenager PL0X :awesome:)

I agree, but I meant that the artists were good. :P (NSC ugh ). I almost get the feeling that the artists that they asked for new songs from just wrote a quick song and went "HERE HAVE IT WE DON'T WANT IT"

The thing about muse is that even if they release some terrible songs (I'm so grateful NSC isn't part of a Muse album, because it's as bad as ETIAW) you still can recognize them in every album, they're the same band evolving and changing their sound without turning into someone else. Their lastest album is not that good but you can still find some very good songs such as the exogenesis symphony, MK ultra and well, I like Resistance :P

For me Muse is more of a live band anyway :wacky: And things like playing a 10 years old album in one of the most important concert venues shows that they're not trying to please everyone and they're being themselves. Oh and they've become in my opinion one of the best live acts around.

Well, tht's just my opinion though :P

PARA PARA PARADICHLOROBENZENE

I have never disliked a Coldplay song as much as I'm disliking Paradise. At least ETIAW has the benefit of being a successful pop song; it's catchy and memorable. Paradise doesn't even have that going for it. I've already almost forgotten it. The only good part is the very, very end where you can hear the piano, the only part that sounds like something a band like Coldplay should be doing. I don't have a problem with pop music whatsoever, but that doesn't mean every single artist can just go out and write successful top 40 songs. Coldplay is the wrong kind of band for stuff like this, clearly evident in their lack of ability to sample music or alter a voice to make it sound good.

Here, you deserve this:

As a person who is stupidly picky about live music, I agree with what you're saying. Muse is an excellent live band. I hope to be able to see them some time in the near future.

On another note...

I actually like NSC. A lot. SUE ME. :bigcry:

If you guys haven't listened to the Paradise parody "answer" song in the Paradise forum, you need to check it out. I think it might get uploaded to YouTube sometime soon.

Coldplay on TWILIGHT?

Don't you dare say that. Oh god, please don't worry me.

It's kinda a shame Pai beat me to it. I was hoping to do a Beercan encore. :disappointed:

what?

I saw New Moon with my friends (as a joke, obvs. it was pretty hilarious) and the music choices actually worked extremely well. Yes, maybe the twilight fans will ruin your precious little band, but the song is actually being used well....

Nothing works well with Twilight. :dozey:

That's a fine description

They should just get OST's, then we wouldn't need to worry about tarnished songs.

The "Twilight" franchise has those, too.

The only thing that movie does well, apart from catering for the libidos of conditioned teenage girls.

Paradise is marginally less shit than Every Teardrop is A Bunch Of Arse, but some of the other tracks we've heard like Charlie Brown and Major Minus are actually ok, so the dilemma I have now is - should I spend £50 on the super-duper deluxe version of MX which looks amazing and I really want to have it cos it's Coldplay and they've been in my life for 10 years and I'd feel like a t w a t if I gave up on them now BUT can I really really really justify spending 50 quid on an album that essentially, will only be half-decent. :bigcry: Especially when there's other super-duper deluxe albums that I'd rather spend that sort of money on (& bands far more deserving of my support/money) :\ :\ :\

I don't know what to do.....

I'm buying the standard album I don't really need loads of random posters and arty stuff so I can do without and yeah £50 is a lot of money which I'd rather spend on a concert or something.
