Major Minus

I think it's a anarchic cousin of GPASUYF

loving what they did with GPASUYF. Not better than the VLV Tour version, but pretty good.

my favourite this far. i love the guitarwork of jonny!

I love the "Ooh-oooh-oooh" part, Chris can really hit those notes! :singer:

hopefully Jonny will be the main feature in this album. He is such a GREAT guitarist that hasn't showed yet its FULL potential.

Is it just me or does the vocal melody and some of the lyrics sound similar to 'Pour Me'?

I think the remixed beginning of GPASUYF was bad, but it made the rest of the song sound even better than ever before, as it should be.

I quite like the comparison of those two songs. Good point there.

this is my favourite so far. Jonny is such an incredible guitarist!

This is an epic song. I get a really Arcade Fire-y vibe from it. For some reason that was my first thought, even after only hearing the poor-quality version from Rock Im Park. But I bet some people will say I'm being blasphemous or something, comparing it to AF :P

I don't see the AF vibe but I really like this song now.

Most people don't seem to understand my musical similarity connections . I get immediately instantaneously reminded of other songs or bands when I hear something new, and then I write/post about it, and most people are like "OMFG what are you on ."

Really, though, Arcade Fire. I'm serious. And I think that's why I love it.

But if the lyrics are actually "crocodiles ticking around the world" or whatever, I think it loses some points in my book

Oh yeah, definitely, and Johnny's guitar sounds damn awesome in this song, esp towards the end. :o

I'll give it another listen to see if I find something :P

I think the guitar in Charlie Brown sounds a bit like Human (The Killers)

this part:

:uhoh:

I didn't pay attention to the MM lyrics, but I like the music.

ps: Lovely avatar... Albert :dazzled:

This my second favorite after Us Against the World!

Nah, it's almost definitely just me . Seriously, no one ever agrees with my musical analogies.

I'm not *really* hearing the Human connection either, but I kind of see what you're getting at! :D

(And you know how much I love Albert   )

MM is so full of energy and my favourite new song by far. I am always astonished about the fact that they manage to create such super sounds with such a limited number of vocals and instruments. Whoaa, that is pure talent! Take Chris' voice and his superb acoustic guitar sound, Jonny superlicking on his guitar,Guy taking (obviously effortless) care for great baseline and Will orchestrating the rhythm and some vocaling and you have the recipie for superb music. I really, really, really like MM!! (as of all other Coldplay songs, including ETIAW that needed some adjusting for me but is brilliant in it's way and superb for live performances).

I have been listening to this all day, I believe. The energy is captivating, and Jonny's chimes are great. It's always a blast to hear chimes in Coldplay's music.

THis is probably the new name of the album. I head it would start with an "m" and have two words. Based on that, Coldplay have had their albums named after a song on each of their albums.

i find this to be the best new song at the moment to be honest.

It makes me think why the hell did they make ETIAW a single?

 A lot of non-Coldplayers seem to like it, and I think it's just a fun little summer song that they can play at festivals to get the crowd going.

this song is amazing. can't wait to listen to it on proper album version...

listening the live version right now!

Jonny boyyyyyyy!!!

The song is nice. Chris should play with his guitar lower on his body like Jonny and Guy do.

I heard that Up with the birds leaked like a half an hour ago int he internet! and its not the same song as major minus, its another one...

Has anyone else noticed the Peter Pan references in both Major Minus and Charlie Brown?

Charlie Brown: "Took a car downtown where the lost boys meet” (lost boys = boys who fall out of their prams when the nurse isn't looking)

Major Minus: "I hear those crocodiles ticking around the world” (In Peter Pan, Captain Hook is followed around by a crocodile who ate his arm and a clock).

What could this mean?

Yeah, I noticed both of them, in fact, I pointed them out in another thread . . . . not sure why Chris is referencing Peter Pan, though
