Yeah, I don't even know why I bothered coming back, they're just constantly being rude about a bunch of things.

^ Thank you though :nice:

Well you're just biased cause you're married to the lead singer.

And no, I don't believe that being a "true fan" is loving everything they do? I think that being a true fan means that you support the band 100%. I'm not saying you have to like every song. To be honest, I actually don't care for Politik that much. But I don't go bashing it.

I think a sports analogy is fitting. if you support a team/club it is because they have certain endearing qualities. Your support is not unconditional ( unconditional love is essentially meaningless), as there are reasons why you prefer that club to others. So even though you cheer them on every game, you will naturally be disappointed if they hire a very poor manager or start playing very poorly. Same with bands. If you see value in a certain band's music, you're expecting a certain standard from said band, as your support is contingent upon them not making consistently poor music.

the difference between waterfalls and politik is that politik is in the past, and there are more recent songs that you very much enjoy, whereas Waterfall is supposed to be representative of the future of coldplay. regardless of a team's past, you will hold them accountable for the quality of their play, there is a conceivable point at which you may stop supporting that team. and fans don't want that to happen, thus they express their opinions, which brings us to this thread...

I didn't necessarily mean it like that. I meant that the things that people are saying are a bit out of hand. Like there is a little thing called respect. I know that people are going to have negative comments, but it would seem, in my eyes, that it would be better if they did it in a different matter or just didn't say anything at all.

I understand why you feel that way towards comments that were posted in the line of 'Coldplay's new song sucks they should just die', but those comments were made by a small minority where else plenty others have given valid justification of why they think the song is shit. The "true fans"(lol) however, gets too defensive and that makes others go even more overboard in bashing the song.

And you don't think one of the ways to support this band is by giving constructive criticism? It has been pointed out by Lore over and over again that she and others criticise the band because they know the band can do much better than what they are doing. Can you say that they are not "true fans"? Who are we to label which fans are "more true" and which are "less"? I would also like to point out that very little people care about being "true fans". We would just say what we feel and we go about doing that without thinking "would a true fan do this?" beforehand.

ETDIAW I will agree with you, isn't too strong with the lyrical aspect, but like I said before, I don't believe that every single song needs to be heartfelt and have the best lyrics. I personally believe that that is impossible in a sense.

lol if anyone ever expected deep songs by Coldplay then they are fully mistaken. They have never been experts of writing deep overly meaningful songs. One thing I like about Coldplay from the beginning is how straight forward Chris Martin's lyrics are and how brave of him to express his feelings that clearly without fearing of being labelled as too cheesy. But 'no generation drop' and 'rather be a comma and a fullstop'? Come on.

I think that them taking a step in a new direction is great, I don't know why people expect them to just keep doing Parachutes era material forever? It's not exciting to watch a band stay the same, and not try to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. To be inspired by something new, such as the graffiti in New York City.

I do not know if other people are expecting another Parachutes, cause I am not. It was a good formula used by the band, a pretty damn good one in fact, but having two similar albums would be just as bad as producing bad new albums. What makes me disappointed is that they are producing a song that do not have the effect that they used to have on me, which is the excitement of listening to their songs. Now every time they produce a new song, I would have to worry about them producing bad songs, which was proven right currently. You can change and be inspired all you want, but people don't usually change in backwards direction. ETIAW sounded like what they would produce when they were 15, and then mature up and go forward and produce Parachutes. The song is just that ridiculous sounding.

I think everybody can and should post their opinions about the song. The problems arise when people think their opinion is not subjective but equates with absolute truth. So people just remember: there is no absolute objective truth about how good or bad ETIAW is. We all have different ears and brains and we all are justified in our opinions as long as we respect others.

I recently digged ETIAW after hearing it live, which made me think about how production and arrangements are so important in a song. I guess I did not like the studio arrangement but I'm loving the song live incredibly much!

If you don't like it, keep it to yourself, don't go around making threads to just bash the new songs or style of the era.

I think you do not understand the concept of 'forum'

lol

Why is everyone hating on Coldplay's new songs so much? If you don't like it, keep it to yourself, don't go around making threads to just bash the new songs or style of the era. Coldplay are taking a new direction, I like it because they really branched off and dared to try something new; they are being creative. I mean, come on, look at the fucking piano, it looks ridiculously detailed and colorful. I really admire them for things like that. I don't know why you guys are being so closed minded about it. The new songs haven't even been out for a full day technically, and people are saying they hate them, and blah blah blah... shut up. I hate to be mean, but I mean really, grow up.

This is not kindergarten. If you don't like it, then that's no problem, those are your own reasons. I just feel like people are overreacting.

Not every single song that Coldplay come out with are going to be deep songs like Swallowed in the Sea, See You Soon, We Never Change, A Message, ect. I don't see what the problem is with having a few upbeat, happy-go-lucky songs honestly?

Oh, and for those of you who are the old cranky fans and think that Coldplay taking this route might bring new fans, I don't see the problem? What's wrong with new people loving Coldplay. If you honestly find that annoying, you should really consider just not even listening to any band anymore. Because it happens with everyone. Not just Coldplay.

Thank you for your time. :dozey:...

you're right, MrsMartin given to find freedom is anymore kindergarten, how is the new direction of the band and you said give happy-go-lucky songs .

I agree. That's why, even though I listened to ETIAW, I'm going to resist the urge to listen to the other new songs until I see Coldplay live next month.

There's something special about experiencing songs for the first time in a live situation, and I don't have that long to wait, anyway.

gonna be a hell of match between the girls

You reckon?

Nice logic there. Just because you don't agree with something it doesn't mean others don't have the right to express their opinion?

It's a internet forum for Coldplay fans past and present able to express their views. Don't like it? Then leave.
