Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a quick message.

I was a big fan of Coldplay when at Uni many moons ago.... I won a few prizes on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session the Tuesday of Parachutes release.

I received a signed promo cd of Parachutes and Steve send me an extra gift seeing as I was pretty hooked on the band. This was a signed poster!

Not only was it signed by the whole band, it also has a message from Chris saying " This is our first ever signed poster, Well Done!"

I hid it away soon after recieving it as I knew they would be mega famous!

IT'S ON SALE!!!!

Yes, I feel its the right time to let it go....

I am just wondering how to go about selling it, maybe half the money could go to the bands favourite charity.....

Whoa. I bet a lot of people would pay quite a pretty penny for that (me included). :stunned:

But if I were you, I would keep it.

Oops, dp

Well, if you're planning on giving half the sums to Coldplay's favorite charity then I would write a letter to the guys asking which charity that would be and how you might go about selling it. I'm sure they would be willing to help--if they aren't too swamped with duties concerning LP5, that is.

Good call, I'll look at contacting their management...

Looks like a great item! Lovely touch to give half of the money to charity as well. Good luck!

I would kill to have that.

I literally do mean that.

Gosh, I'd love to own that.

I would definately consider splashing out on that item.
"Splashing out"? What does that mean?

/not familiar with British slang

If you plan to do that, I'm guessing they wouldn't post an auction and say "we're only giving half to charity". They would want to indicate that they are giving all the money to charity, so if they agree to do it, I'm guessing they would want to directly buy it from you first. But that's just a guess.

Wow, this is really a unique item! How much does an "ordinary signed" (Parachutes) poster cost? I would've kept it if I was you, but I guess you have your reasons. :]

Maybe Coldplay could post an auction, giving all the money to charity and then give the owner half the sum it went for.

I think I would just do an Ebay auction in a few weeks, theres a few autograph companies interested and I've had a few private messages with offers.

I was one of the original members of the coldplay yahoo fan group before the album was released and seen then in all sorts of small venues. Remember the Coldplay Muse tour in 2000. First met the band when they did their joint headline tour with Terris @ Roadmender, Northampton

To be honest its better being with another big fan as it would have more value to them.

^ Yeah, it deserves to go to a loyal Coldplay fan than some stuffy old guy that hoards stuff like that and never gives it a second look except to dust it off and brag.

I agree with what the others are saying--maybe you could sell it to the guys directly and then they could turn around and sell it themselves and give all the profits to charity?

I popped them a message.... just saving to go to Vegas at the end of the year so need to raise funds thats my main thing.

A lucky man, you are. (I wonder if Chris remembers that?)

You might have decent luck on eBay, but I would look around. What you have is sure to get some money.

but remember. If you want sell it you have to give a proof, that's not fake :)

Trust me, plenty of people will help you get to Vegas in style - first class and multi room suite no less -- if you sell. I just sincerely hope it's for one HELL of a trip with some sort of significant meaning (your wedding, friend's wedding, etc.) because I would hate for you to sell this & then be sorely disappointed with Sin City. :worried2:

Also, I think it's incredibly generous & noble to donate half of the proceeds to a charity on their behalf. :D If you shouldn't hear back from their management, which is highly unlikely considering how responsive they are with fans, you can always donate to an organization they've helped in the past: Crisis, Kids Company, Mencap, War Child, Made Trade Fair, Oxfam, etc.

I thought about mencap and crisis.... I'll make sure I inform you all.

In terms of proving its authenticity, I won it on UK BBC Radio 1 Evening Session Show with Steve Lamacq on Tues 11th July 2000. The question I was asked was what is the musical term for changing key. I answered Modulation and won!

Its also Chris' old signature which I have on my gig tickets and cd. I'm sure someone can (officially) validate this.

The poster itself could be valuable (if it's the Parachutes litho), add the signatures, and youre probably looking at a couple hundred. Add a COA, and it goes up even higher.

Good luck!
