Did it ever occur to you people that maybe he is pleasing himself? People's musical tastes change. Besides, it's not like he's pulled a Thom Yorke and completely remade his style. Viva still had Coldplay written all over it.

Good bands change. Bad bands never change. Now, we wouldn't really want every album Coldplay puts out to be slow, acoustic, etc. would we? Of course not. It would get boring.

Parachutes had 3 UK Top 40 singles (Shiver, Yellow, Trouble) of 3, A Rush Of Blood To The Head had 3 (The Scientist, In My Place and Clocks) of 3 singles, X&Y had 3 (Speed Of Sound, Talk, Fix You) of 4 and Viva only had 2 (VLV and VH) from 5 released, ...so Viva was the album with less radio success.
