Radiohead's not the past ... just because they're not making music for a wider audience it doesn't mean their career is declining!

  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

I do however agree Coldplay is in their The Unforgettable fire growth spurt. That makes their next album The Joshua Tree!

To say that In Rainbows is a DECLINE in quality really speaks to how excellent the band as a whole is. I personally feel IR is their best album since OKC.

Your right nina! :nice:

Your right nina! :nice:

yay I'm glad someone agrees with me! :nice:

Sure, they might have disappeared from the 'hit charts', but Radiohead is still huge. And I'm sure they will remain huge until the day they decide to call it a day.

Just look at their devoted fanbase.

I honestly think they have managed to gather the most devoted fanbase on the planet.

U2 and Coldplay have a bigger fanbase, but as far as the word 'devoted' goes I think Radiohead beats them hands down.

That's why people were paying £99,99 for the download version of In rainbows :P

so the tour's on again.. means that Thom's posting to his Waste-central page again :p

Would anybody be so kind and send me those photos and stuff that came along with In Rainbows Disc 2?

Radiohead, what have you done for me lately? Oh, right, you released “In Rainbows”- one of the coolest albums of last year. Yet it’s not the coolest.

There was a time when a Radiohead release was a shoo-in for album of the year. But lately the band isn’t as exciting as it once was. Compare anything off “In Rainbows” to “Airbag,” “I Might Be Wrong” or even Coldplay-template “Fake Plastic Trees.”

Radiohead has entered its “Zooropa” phase, while Coldplay’s firmly in its “Unforgettable Fire” growth spurt.

Let’s not go crazy. Creatively, melodically and lyrically, any Radiohead album stomps any Coldplay album. But that may change. Bands in decline rarely rebound - still holding out hope the theme song from “Armageddon” didn’t signal Aerosmith’s artistic Armageddon?

Radiohead became post-grunge’s first, maybe only, epic rock band, then banished the guitar crescendos that made it epic. But they still managed to make amazing, tech-y minor masterpieces.

Now the band’s filling in the spaces between epic and slight, organic and synthetic, guitar-fueled rock and Mac-made sonicscapes. Soon all those spaces will be filled in. Then what?

ok i still like coldplay and all but to say that radiohead are the past and coldplay are the future is very exasperating to hear. and if what this silly article suggests is true then i'm definitely living in the past.

(..but they always say everything was better back in the days. no?)

one can claim coldplay have definitely made progress with their music (from x&y to viva la vida is a progress indeed) but why discredit radiohead while doing so? completely, utterly, and wholly unnecessary.

U2 and Coldplay have a bigger fanbase, but as far as the word 'devoted' goes I think Radiohead beats them hands down.

:smug:

Yeah whats all this trash about radiohead being the past? They're still releasing records, touring, topping the charts, and being brilliant! As letdown said, sure, praise coldplay for their progress but why trash radiohead in doing so?

Hey for Radiohead fans, check out this cover!

He's in a band I know of, and this guy's really talented. I know the video doesn't exactly look like him singing, but it is. You can check out his other videos to. And no, I'm not just saying check it out to get him views or anything. I think you might enjoy it. Seriously.

so Vampire Weekend covered Exit Music .... um I don't know.. at least it's different

Have you heard Gnarls Barkley's cover of Reckoner? All respect for doing that ... but his voice sounds kind of ... wrong
