"I've been blown about for years"

Saw Magazine play last night in Oxford. It was remarkable....nearly 30 years since they last played, and they were everything you could hope for. It was strangely free of nostalgia - just great songs, well played.

The one mention of their past - a tribute to the memory of the remarkable musician John McGeoch - was very affecting, but also part of this sense they had of 'we know this music's great, you know it's great, and it goes like this' - nothing smug, or especially triumphant - it was just obvious to everyone there. They opened with "The light pours out of me" and didn't falter once.

About time they got recognized for their song writing (which informs so much of what radiohead do - no guitarist inspired me more that John McGeoch), and live performances (which we were too young to have seen). Go and see them this time around if you can get a ticket (or can shamelessly blag one like I did....)

  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

Hey everyone. Can someone fill me in. I saw Thom and Jonny play with the marching band at the Grammy's. Did they win anything in the end, I wasn't sure. Also, where was the rest of the band?? What are they all up to atm? When will we ever hear another Radiohead album?

They won 2 awards: Best alternative album and best packaging stuff. The rest of the band were there too, althought i havent watched the whole thing yet.

But i've seen the performance :D It was really awesome! Thom was kinda faking it :/

About the next album, some say this year. But i guess not.

Yeah, they won Best Alternative Album and Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package.

Ed and Colin were sitting and didn't perform at all, and nobody knows where Phil was. He could possibly be in England doing stuff for his album.

Dare I say In Rainbows is on the same level as OK Computer.

*Ducks flying objects*

best packaging!

well it's true :D

and yes sir, you are right, in rainbows is at the same level of OK computer

I'll just say 15 Step was by far the best performance on Sunday.

But Phil was MIA...?

Man, i fucking hate it how some people are dissing radiohead like crazy saying in rainbows is shit AND they dare to insult thom and talk shit about his eyes and that just reminds me of that stupid ass idiot who was asking him the same crap about his eye over and over in some interview.

My radiohead loving heart is bleeding :bigcry:

But i dont mind they dont like in rainbows, hell i dont mind if they don't like radiohead at all and think coldplay is way better but i do mind when they attack thom's looks (especially his left eye)just because he said he doesn't like coldplay.I really find it very immature and ignorant :disappointed:

Did thom say he dosent like them? But its best to stay out of these things. Its just gonna be wasting your time.

I love you briggs

Hey I helped too:disappointed:

I was going to say something but I feel like even posting in that thread is kind of feeding into. I might still though... even just to say that one of the things that bothers them the most about so called 'haters' is that they call names, poke fun and use filthy language... and everyone in that thread is doing all of those things. They're on the same level as the people they say they dislike. Maybe I'm a hippie, but I don't like hearing the word 'hate' thrown around so much, and I don't like all the joking mentions of killing people.

We have enough real murder in the world without making pretend murder on a fan board.

Besides all that... I don't understand why Alison Krauss and Robert Plant would be beaten on for rightfully winning something at an awards show. It's not like they planned it so they could hurt Coldplay. "Raising Sand" was a great album and got a lot of play in this house, all year long. I liked four of the five albums up for the award, though I thought only three of them deserved the title... and as Coldplay had already won a lot of great stuff, been recognized for their talent and given multiple oppurtunities to thank everyone and speak... I was hoping for a Radiohead win too.

Just because.

I don't know... maybe I will post after all...

a big thank you to both Dr David Campbell for arranging and the USC Marching Band for working so hard with us to get this right..

we had such a laugh.

Thom

damn I missed the fight!

and what's wrong with thom's eye?

Nothing wrong with thom's eye,

He thinks its cool to look like that :P

At birth, his left eye was fixed shut; the doctors determined that the eye was paralyzed and that the condition was permanent. Yorke's parents took him to an eye specialist, who suggested a muscle graft. Yorke underwent five eye operations before he was six years old.[1] Yorke's father, a chemical equipment salesman, was hired by a firm in Scotland shortly after his son's birth and the family lived there until Yorke was seven. During this time Yorke had to wear a patch over his eye.[2] He has stated that the last surgery was "botched," giving him a drooping eyelid.[3]

Yeah, if you feel like posting go right ahead. Sure it might all be fun and games, but I mean making something personal like that and making personal attacks against people could result in things getting out of hand.

Plus it displays zero maturity.
