I'm listening to it for the 8th time now, I just love it when the bass kicks in @ 01:20 ish...fucking brilliant!

I hope all these speculations about something being released next Monday will happen.

Don't ask me where The Present Tense is. :D Somewhere in Thom's folder, zipped, hiding between all the other songs. :P Might as well lock the whole folder so I don't go into temptation.

  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

such an exciting time to be a radiohead fan! i love it how after 17years they still keep their fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of new music. Just like Mrs Martin said at the grammys "they never went wrong"

Just like Mrs Martin said at the grammys "they never went wrong"

They're gonna be on Twilight though! :P

Oh well, nobody is perfect anyway.

I can believe those EP rumors since they don't announce any news of upcoming releases till just before the release date with...say one day or two!

youtube link of the song:

guitar reminds me of post rock

This is rubbish. Remember when Coldplay were taknig about doing something revolutionary and different by not making albums, but just doing singles or stuff like that. (Which I don't think they'll do right now but still)

Anyways, if Coldplay eventually does this, Radiohead would've already done it. And then Coldplay will, once again, be accused of ripping them off.

really good point. especially about that and break-up rumors.

I think they're just saying that.

But an EP would be awesome, but I really want another record, that'd be amazing

rrrr annoying. so who believes these EP rumours?

I do. Now just has thom talked about it, but yesterday Phil was talking and they asked if there was going to be a new album and he avoided it and said that they're working on new material. Also I think that after this leak that we might be seeing a possible new EP or songs on monday. I mean from the info that's posted on this leak (a ascii art w/ type) had something that says "rls.date....2009-17-08". That date hasn't even come by yet.

Obviously no one really knows, but it'd be cool either way

But everything in there is referring to this specific track, so (assuming that any of this is true, I mean) maybe the release date means will just be a single, as opposed to something bigger like an EP/LP?

This could just be some elaborate trick someone who got their hands on the leak decided to do. I feel like maybe that's just what band wants us to think and they did do this themselves, though. I keep going back and forth on this. The song is 320kbps, which is impressive. Most of the time, leaks aren't very good quality, I think. So that's one reason for why it could be the band themselves... Hmm.

I guess you could be right in that it might just be a single song, although I'm hoping it'll be more than just one song :P

Obviously no one knows who released it but I have suspicions the band did. Now people who know much more about mp3 files discussed on atease and then it was posted by wonsy on his site: http://www.citizeninsane.eu/twistedwords.html

It seems as though the files were encoded with the same thing as the In Rainbows songs were... sounds fishy... wierd fishee :P

I'm hoping that it will be more than just a single, too. That's what I want to think. I'm afraid that I'm just going to disappoint myself, though, because I'm getting pretty excited.

About the files being encoded by the same thing: Oooh, that's very interesting. It could always be a coincidence, but I don't really want to think that. Then there is the possibility that if someone else who was pretending to be the band did this, they put it as the same encoder thing to seem like they were actually the band. I really doubt that, though. :P

WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!! OOOH NEED TO LISTEN TO IT NOW

iinteresting stuff found on atease:

I found something interesting about the ISRC codes: Twisted Words is GBSTK0900111 and Harry Patch is GBSTK0900112. They could be on the same EP and Twisted Words is the opener and Harry is the second track.
You're a more powerful human being than all of us then! :surprised:
I do my best. ;)

A recap of what we know, these are only FACTS people:

as far as we know the first sign of this leak was on the private torrent tracker what.cd (#1 of its kind for music), uploaded around 22:30 GMT (about 15 hours ago) by the member crza

this member has been on the site for 1 year and 4 months. he changed his settings ("paranoia level") a few hours after he uploaded the song to hide everything he uploaded and downloaded, however (and i can't prove this obviously so these are not really facts per se) i saw that he never uploaded anything else and that he downloaded around 5 things, one of them being a vynil rip of Merriweather Post Pavilion about 7 months ago (that's the last recorded activity on the site before the leak). this person didn't respond to any messages i sent (less surprising than the fact he changed his "paranoia level")

there was 2 files: the .mp3 and a .nfo. the filenames contain the word "advance" which in scene-speak means a leak of a particular release (which can be just a song)

the nfo file is nothing more than a text file that comes with copies of scene releases. its content can be read here. the style very much look like a regular nfo from a regular scene group but the "poem" and the ascii art in the title is a little too elaborated for a scene group (that's my opinion). the name of scene group (or what radiohead would like us to believe is a scene group) is "wall of ice" (woi) which could be inspired by this particular piece of the web comic xkcd (which is mostly known in geek circles)

here i paste the "poem":

i just wanted to reassure readers

that following representations

seeking confirmation

that before your very eyes

behind the wall of ice

that the box is not under threat

however they are set to remove

other boxes

in fact i have the list in front of me

i went to a briefing on their plans

and challenged them to tell me

exactly what the cost would be

they spoke in broad terms

we're looking for: talented puppeteers

worms, disgruntled executives, sacked flies

genres: doomcore, folktronica, ukf

this indeed sound like thom but, still, no proof

in the nfo 2 pseudonyms appear: "sca[GG]er" (the one who made the rip) and "racy251" (the one who made the ascii art)

the nfo file also indicate that the release date for the song is august 17th 2009, usually in nfos this date indicate the retail date. we don't know what will happen on the 17th

i opened the id3 tag of the mp3 to see if there was anything revealing

in the ISRC field it's noted "GBSTK0900111"; "GB" is for the country, "09" is for the year, "00111" is just an id number (unimportant)

i googled "STK" and stumbled on this interesting blog post. this guy did the same thing back in 2007 with the mp3s of in rainbows and found out the same ISRC tag with value "GB-STK-07-000##". i don't know what "STK" stands for but it's the same we got today

they both have been encoded with LAME 3.93 (not the same bitrate tho), which is odd since it's not even the last version (3.98.2). does anyone know if this particular version is used in leaking circles? if not it could mean that it was encoded by radiohead and if they did that....

if anyone uncover more facts let it be known!!

Is a new Radiohead EP on its way?

Posted on August 13th, 2009.

Radiohead are currently in the studio rehearsing for their upcoming festival appearances at the end of August, but with last night’s leak of ‘These Are My Twisted Words‘ there are some hints that something is on its way.

In an interview with The Australian, Jonny Greenwood said; “Traditionally we’d be looking for 10 or 11 songs and putting them together, but that doesn’t feel as natural as it used to, so I don’t know what we’ll do. Maybe we’ll find four songs that work together and we’ll call that a release. I don’t know.”

Last week we reported about Thom Yorke’s interview with the Believer where he stated that Radiohead are done with releasing full lenght albums for a while. Thom Yorke: “None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again. Not straight off. I mean, it’s just become a real drag. It worked with “In Rainbows” because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we’ve all said that we can’t possibly dive into that again. It’ll kill us.”

Thom and Jonny’s quotes, the recent work in the studio and last night’s leak might point to a release sooner rather than later. ‘These Are My Twisted Words’ might be one of those four tracks Jonny mentioned. In the source files of the track that ended up on the message board, the title ‘Wall Of Ice’ was found twice as well as a release date of August 17, 2009. A digital release of Radiohead’s ‘Wall Of Ice EP’ this Monday, anyone?

The more and more I read up on this, and the more spectulation there is, it seems as though we may be getting something soon!:dance:

edit: here's the link to the article on Jonny- http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25925014-16947,00.html

Just listened to These Are My Twisted Words. Ooooh this is very good!

amazing, nobody knew, which is once again, amazing

A digital release of Radiohead’s ‘Wall Of Ice EP’ this Monday, anyone?
