  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

I wish I had Palladia. It sounds awesome.

Palladia is awesome. Watching In The Basement in HD rules!

3. I definitely don't recommend going on to "Kid A" that soon, just because it's one of those albums that, in spite of what I said at Point 1, you have to listen to multiple times to even get a grasp on it. It was one of my last Radiohead albums, and I still don't think I understand why they did what they did. It also happens to be my least favorite Radiohead album (other than "Pablo Honey," which is a given for most Radiohead fans, anyway).

Yeah, Kid A takes a while getting used to. If you like electronic music a lot, it shouldn't be too difficult to get into it but I'd still listen to other albums first. I started with OKC and then went to Amnesiac and I got a good idea of what the band were able to sound like so it was easy moving from there on.

You mean what the reasons for the change were? Watch Meeting People Is Easy - Kid A and Amnesiac will make more sense afterwards.

There obviously won't be any Radiohead song shown as the set wasn't filmed AT ALL.

:bigcry:

I went to bed halfway into the 4th hour and recorded the rest of it (haven't watched it yet). I was holding out hope because the shows had performances from a few artists I've never heard of, and from various stages including the dinky tents.

Was it BBC's decision or Radiohead's decision that it not be filmed?

As far as I know, they never film the Park stage sets (hence no recordings of Thom and Jonny's set from last year or Pulp from this year) and Radiohead specifically asked not to be filmed.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! So far I have listened to "In Rainbows" (twice Alien Radio) and "OK Computer". With the exception of 15 step, I think I like OK Computer more. Is that weird?!?! I will say I didn't like the part where the computerized voice starts talking. That was quite annoying.

I know there was some discussion about what the music means. I have no clue. I've always been more into the sound of music rather than trying to figure out what the lyrics are saying.

Seems pretty mellow to me, or maybe just compared to other stuff I like. Is Radiohead exciting live? I'm guessing they have some faster stuff they mix in? I'll let you know how I like "Kid A".

Do you have Comcast/Xfinity as your cable provider? Seems like a weird question, but there's something I can recommend if you do.

Also, even though you said you like OK Computer more than In Rainbows, you might want to check out this performance if you have time.

They performed a few non-In Rainbows songs here. Two of the songs (starting at 18:20), The Gloaming and Myxomatosis, are on their 6th album Hail to the Thief (HTTT). When I first heard the songs on the album, I didn't like them. But when I saw them performed on this, I was like ooooohhhhhhh WOW I get it now.

I do have Comcast...hook me up!
Go to On Demand

scroll down and choose 'Music'

then 'All Live Music'

then 'Live Music N-S'

find Radiohead.

There's also 'Radiohead and More', but just pick the plain Radiohead one. It's a compilation of performances from an English music show, from three different eras (The Bends, OK Computer, and HTTT).

It's kind of sad that I think Myxomatosis was better than most of the IR content. :\

Imagine how frustrated I was when I decided to get the IR FTB on iTunes complete with video, but I didn't bother to verify the tracklist; I assumed it would have everything, but they only included the IR material. I was a bit miffed, but I suppose that's my fault for not paying attention.

I really hope they come to Detroit.

We'd have better luck of catching the big RH in either Ohio or Illinois.

There are faster songs. Here is one, it's Just from The Bends: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_qMagfZtv8&ob=av2e]Radiohead - Just - YouTube[/ame]

Actually, Just is pretty slow. It's just loud. :p

I think one of their fastest songs is this...I LOVE the green lights. <3

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naCAdshYVTA][HD] Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Place (Live @ Saitama Super Arena - Oct 5, 08 - Tokyo, Japan) - YouTube[/ame]

^Well, guitar riffs are one of their fastest. :P

Also, the second half of 2+2=5 is quite fast also. :)

EDIT: Damn, I wish I could see them live now. :D

2+2=5 is really one of their best, probably. :)

2+2=5 is the song I need to see and hear live next year. :D

Thanks for the link. Your thoughts?

I think I prefer Shipwreck over This, but it's still kind of meh.

A little over 2 weeks until Radiohead's performance on SNL. Are you going to try to get standby tickets, Mike?

Meh?... honestly I think they are so good! I can't stop listening to them

I might try... I don't know. I've been so busy at work I haven't had time to think about it.

What do you think about them overall?
