Will they majorly change the setlist for the actual tour?

Featured Replies

I hope so... it would be a bit disappointing to see the setlist stay mostly the same as the festival setlist (with the exceptions of the new songs from the album that they'll add). I hope the only thing that stays the same is MX/Hurts Like Heaven leading off and Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall finishing.

Well of course with the new songs introduced on the album they'll add them in, and to make them work with previous releases, they'll have to shift out some...my money's on them taking Everything's Not Lost off definitely...sadly...

in the Viva tour they play 25 songs in a full concert. i guess they wouldn't do long concerts like that. 20 songs i think. and when MX is out or probable earlier they play more songs of it. The only old song that i want in the full concerts setlist is Lovers in Japan :wink3:

I think they'll have two setlists: one will open with HLH and the other CB. Are any of these shows going to be pro-shot like the festivals?

Yes, of course it will. They'll include a lot more MX material. Paradise will certainly be part of the set, as will a few others. I think they'll ditch Life is for Living. But I love that song, it's one of my favourites so I hope they don't!

Coldplay will never open any festival ever, in any era, with Charlie Brown. Not a chance.

Untill Mylo Xyloto is released, i just want to have Paradise being included in their setlist, probably Princess of China because they played it once...But no more new songs because i wanna hear some really new material when i listen to MX the first time...

Rock Im Park says otherwise.

The setlist at this gig was quite chaotic.

But really, there isn't a high possibility that CB will be the opener of a concert because CB is going to be a huge single of the new album and big hits are often in the middle-end of a concert.

*cough*YELLOW*cough*

*cough*IN MY PLACE*cough* :P

But no, I get what you mean, things like Viva and CB are likely to go towards the end.

I liked CB as an opener (despite only seeing it done like that via YouTube), but MX/HLH was far better in that position.

Seeing as MX may actually be a full song instead of just an intro, I'm really curious whether they'll keep MX/HLH as the opener.

Festival sets by any band are traditionally shorter than a standard headlining show. But in terms of old songs being played, I wouldn't expect a dramatic switch. Just a bunch of additional MX songs being added.

They better play In My Place :whip:

^overplayed and overrated

In My Place :whip: |out of MX Tour Setlist

They better play In My Place :whip:

Wouldn't mind if In My Place dropped off the face of the earth, actually. :laugh3:

They will probably take off songs like Everything's Not Lost, Life Is For Living, Politik, and Violet Hill. Those songs aren't some of their greater hits. Not songs like Yellow, In My Place, Clocks, Fix You, The Scientist, Lost!, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, and Viva La Vida. If they keep those 8 hits and the 6 new MX songs (not including Moving To Mars) that they played at the summer festivals, then I'm guessing we are going to get at least 6-7 new MX songs on the tour. My theory sounds as if they will be playing Mylo Xyloto in it's entirety but I'm just speculating!

Lost!

Violet Hill

They will NEVER drop Viva, Yellow, Clocks, or Fix You. Period. Now assuming they don't go all X&Y on us and not play one of the songs off of MX AT ALL, they'll probably play like 7-8 (possibly more) of the MX songs per concert, and switching between them a bit at time goes on. That's 12 or more songs right there. The only 8-10 songs will be mostly Viva, and AROBTTH in my opinion. We may hear like some random X&Y song(s) (Low, SoS, SITS?) and probably Life Is For Living still but I think the majority of the "old stuff" they will play will be songs like Politik, LiJ (every now and then), Lost!, Violet Hill, In My Place, GPASUYF, The Scientist, and possibly Amsterdam or DAAHF in the place of Life Is For Living later on in the tour.

But that's just my guess...watch me be totally wrong and they play Bigger Stronger at every gig. XD

No way Yellow gets dropped. I hope they bring back Lovers jn Japan. The butterflies arent as magical with In My Place. I wanna hear Strawberry Swing again, my all time favorite.

They wont ever drop Politik.... its one of their favourite songs as well as the favourite song of many coldplay fans. And of course they will play nearly all songs of MX.

Also they will never drop Violet Hill or something..

If they never played anything off their albums before Viva La Vida, I would be okay with that, even though I would miss Life Is For Living (epic piano). A concert made entirely of MX and a few songs like Violet Hill, Viva La Vida, or Lost! would be awesome. Yes, this includes Moving to Mars. I would love to hear that live again.

And if any song of theirs needs to be brought back, it's Yes.

I think Yes is more of a Viva piece. They could play Ode To Deodorant 23 times in a row but I would be perfectly content seeing Coldplay if they were to play Princess Of China and Chinese Sleep Chant. No correlation between the two both referencing China, I guess it's just coincidence.

Don't count on it. They pretty much never change their setlist. If I see them live this go around, it'll only be once mainly for that reason.

I think they should drop Politik, GPASUMF and Violet Hill

Warning Sign, White Shadows maybe, Amsterdam (added every once in a while)

Moving To Mars should be permanently added!!! and ENL/Life if for living should not be removed.

Other then that alot of new stuff and the classics.

^No no no.

They should NOT drop Politik. Or GPASUYF. How are those not better than Warning Sign and White Shadows?

They would never drop Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist, Politik, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Fix You, Viva La Vida, Cemeteries Of London. I'm hoping for they replaced Lost! by Lovers in Japan and In My Place for Talk or Speed Of Sound.
