September 14, 201114 yr All my favorite bands had phases i didn't like. Beatles, Muse, Radiohead, Linkin Park... So just relax and enjoy their new songs, if you hate it, just wait for the next album, it can't get more "pop" than that, if that's the problem. They will probably relax after that album :laugh3: Its just their best phase(in fame, and in spirit) and they are trying to show their "happiness" with all that color and new style of songs. So thats just my opinion, i think this "style" of songs its not permanet :laugh3:
September 14, 201114 yr It's not a phase if they enjoy making it. They're not unsure or uneasy about any of this. No, they've found their comfort zone and created their "masterpiece". I don't even want LP6 anymore at this rate. inb4 WAHHHH YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE REST OF THE ALBUM; sure, I haven't. Maybe UFO and Up In Flames are convincing factors. I doubt it.
September 14, 201114 yr It's not a phase if they enjoy making it. I'm sorry, but that's just silly. They've always enjoyed making music.

This is exactly why some of us are concerned. We hear this new stuff, we think it's garbage, and we wonder if they're going to keep on doing this. We don't want to see a band we love turn into the exact opposite.
September 14, 201114 yr I'm sorry, but that's just silly. They've always enjoyed making music. But this is their comfort zone that they've finally found. Sure they've enjoyed prior records for a little while, but they feel so confident and full about Mylo Xyloto that if they continued to make music, I would bet my bottom dollar that it would continue in the vein of these songs.
September 14, 201114 yr Remember what Debs/the Oracle said about Paradise a while back: "It goes on to say that Paradise is more representative of what's to come on the album as a whole." Make what you will of that statement....

September 14, 201114 yr Ugh I hope this is their dumb phase and they release better stuff on LP6 hahaha, you've been really critical about Paradise..........and so have i haha Anyways, i really hope this is just a phase but if anything it hasn't lasted for long after listening to CB and HLH. Both of those songs are amazing. I'm hoping they just had a phase lasting for two songs :P although i did love ETIAW..........Paradise is just embarrassing
September 14, 201114 yr This phase has lasted for like 5 years and only gotten worse so... emm, trying to understand.. can you explain.. 5 years. You didnt like any of the last album/songs? And about this new phase for the new album: i believe there are only 2 songs that a lot of people dislike. If you also do not like charlie b. or hurts like heaven etc.. And the songs from VLV, then what are you doing on this forum? Isn't it a waist of your time to come to this forum while you dont even like any of the music the band is making.. Why not focus on music you like?
September 14, 201114 yr the_gloaming, I don't know what you're talking about. The Viva era was absolutely beautiful, that album was a masterpiece. That oracle response about how Paradise could fully represent this album made me cry a bit, I got a tad teary eyed. This is so baddd! :'(

September 14, 201114 yr The thing is, this 'new direction' just feels wrong right now. I sincerely love Paradise (don't like ETIAW very much) and I'm not a blind fangirl at all, but these songs are just not 'my' Coldplay. There's a voice in my head saying the singles, Rihanna and the overall coloured happiness is very bad news. I feel like I'm losing a best friend to shallow, boring people. (Dramatic, I know.) I truly understand how most people feel. I'd like to believe it's just a phase and I understand the people who say it's progression and we don't want Parachutes no. 2, etc. (Apart from the para para parody, LOL!) I more than anything understand people who feel like 'their' Coldplay is gone and just want them to make good music. I'm pretty messed up. I trust the band and I like most of the new stuff, so what the hell am I complaining about? There's a lot of unheard songs that could turn out to be amazing. But still I'm scared. :( Can I get a hug?

That oracle response about how Paradise could fully represent this album made me cry a bit, I got a tad teary eyed. This is so baddd! :'( What I meant by 5 years was that my huge dissatisfaction with the band started w/ VLV. Hearing Violet Hill (which I still hate), was the start to the end of the band for me in retrospect. Are there songs from VLV I enjoy? yes (Life In Technicolor, Prospekt's March, Reign of Love). But it's not an album I'd constantly go back to listen to. That album started their whole (in my opinion) "lets make anthem sounding songs". It's like you see the song VLV being popular on the radio and an anthem that they play live, and I feel these new songs are just trying to capture and recycle that. Also VLV was too over the top and just a mess to me. There was way too much going on in all of the songs and I couldn't find a cohesiveness to hold the album together. The band still has the ability to write great songs (Moving to Mars, Prospekt's March, Reign of Love), so that's why I spend some of my time here hoping they can turn it around. Even so Coldplay is not the reason why I choose to stay on this forum, it's more about the people here and also discussions in the WoM. Like I've expressed before I'm very dissatisfied with the band because from my perspective they've made it clear they have sold out and want to just be popular. I mean from the getups and the way they look (or looked during VLV), to the poppiness of the new songs, to using an autotune kind of sound for songs... it's just one thing after the nexts that makes me more unhappy. It's like they're reached that point in their career where like in the 60's and 70's you had a bunch of popular artists, but as the 80's rolled around and the more popular music became synth heavy with massive hair metal type sounding drums it's like all artists went for that sound (Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton). I really don't see any other reason why they went for that sound other than being popular, and now look at the music they write and play... just the same sort of style that initially made them successful.
September 14, 201114 yr So... after this phase they should get depressed, no? And then they will find the good way again :D Anyways, I still hope that the other songs in the album are better than this and ETIAW... (I won't say anything of the collaboration of Rihanna in POC after hearing the song.)

September 14, 201114 yr Charlie Brown will put these bad moments away! Indeed!! If they had released Charlie Brown on monday instead of Paradise I think all the fans would be more excited about the album!
September 14, 201114 yr ^. At least it would have been more like 'don't worry guys, we're still the same band'. Yess!! [/color][/b]:awesome: Here's a hug --> biiiiig    Aw thanks, I feel much better now  Edit: And yes, great job on the video
September 14, 201114 yr Indeed!! If they had released Charlie Brown on monday instead of Paradise I think all the fans would be more excited about the album! Yeah, if they wouldn't have released Paradise until the album release most of the "haters" would just have ignored it, but it's a single and it will be everywhere even if it doesn't deserves recognition because it's boring. I guess that's why some of us are so disappointed.
