Songs that have grown on me. (and vice versa)

Featured Replies

When ETIAW was released, i thought everyone was shocked by the direction Coldplay was taking with their new album. So naturally, not everyone really liked that song. Now that MX is released and we have the pleasure of listening to the whole album, i think ETIAW makes a lot of scene. After Listening to it many times, ive grown to enjoy it, and its one of my favorites from the album.

On the other hand, Major Minus was a song that ive loved since the EP. Now im not too crazy about it. In fact, i usually skip over it when listening to MX.

Has anyone else experienced this from any songs?

I feel the same about Major Minus! Paradise was terrible at first, but I grew to like it, but guess I overplayed it waiting for the album, so I skip that one as well

DLIBYH grows on me, at first I felt the song lacked something but now I absolutely love it!

Nothing has improved, sadly, though "U.F.O." and "Up in Flames" soured on me pretty quickly. Upon first listen they were welcome reprieves from the terrible tracks before and a moment of pause before the terrible tracks immediately after, but really, that's all they are. "U.F.O." is a nice acoustic number, but if it were on a much earlier album, it wouldn't have passed as anything more than a B-side. "Up in Flames" is a track that had potential, but some idiotic decisions like the horrid beat and the poor chorus send it - for lack of better pun - up in flames. Two tracks that prove simplicity isn't necessarily wonderful. Just less awful than the other surrounding tracks.

The first couple of days, i was really smitten (though 'obssesed' would be a better way to describe it) with Hurts Like Heaven, now the ones i listen to the most are Charlie Brown and Us Against The World

the same with MM.

i still don't love ETIAW to much...

i hate that eletro beat, i so hate it.

i think the only five stars track for me in that album is UWTB. there are still some 4 stars, but that's all.

I didn't like Us Against the World live, but it's really really great on the album. I think it's my favorite track.

When I first heard the live stuff, Charlie Brown was my hands down favorite and I didn't like Hurts Like Heaven at all. Now, I love HLH and while I still like Charlie Brown, my current favorites are UATW & Up With the Birds.

ETIAW and POC

I loved the other ones since the 1st listen.

I'm still having some issues with MM, I no longer skip it, I just tolerate it. But it's a grower. Great running tune too!

I grew to love ETIAW after being broad-sided with it at first. Paradise & POC have slowly grown on me too. The rest, I loved at first listen! :D

ETIAW makes sense to me now, in context, but I am tired of hearing it by now.

I love Paradise and ETIAW but usually skip them because I overplayed them pre-release of the album. As well as major minus( but I also don't like the studio version that much)

I loved ETIAW from the start actually... It just makes me happy  Paradise has grown ALOT on me. I despised it at first, but now I enjoy it a lot, and its been the biggest grower for me. Me and PoC are still not exactly friends though :inquisitive: My least favorite track on the record.

As far as the other way around, I suppose Major Minus has gone down some. I used to enjoy it a lot, but its aged not so great and now its only okay for me. Still not bad or anything, but just okay.

I think I've heard MM a little too much too. I had bought the ETIAW single cd when it came out, and played MM to death because I loved the gritty feel of the song. I overdid it, and now I'm tired of hearing it! :\

At first I didn't like ETIAW, then I kinda liked it, and after that it went down. Now I'd rather skip it, I have no real connection with it, I only like the guitar (and the drums).

Up In Flames has grown on me the most, from about a five to a nine.

As with most people, Up In Flames starts to grow on me, but still it's kinda boring sometimes (I only really like the part with the guitar :D). Also, the last three tracks have grown on me really quickly (DLIBYH is too in-your-face to capture everything from the beginning).

On the other hand, I'm rather lukewarm on MM. Not that it's a bad song, it's just that the studio version fails to deliver the drive and dirtyness of the live version (I don't mind the vocal effects) and it seems completely out of place.

PS: I forgot bout Paradise. I hated it at first, but it has grown to a decent track.

I didn't really like UWTB, now I love it !

I'm getting tired (already) of PoC!

I love HLH now.

That's it. I've always loved Paradise.

I liked all the songs in the begining some more than others but now i just dont like any of them.....I think their catchy but horrible. :(

The whole ending (ahT/DLIBYH/UWTB) has grown a LOT in me.

ETIAW was a song i have liked since the very first time i heard it, the original reason why i'm in love with this album.

Major Minus is really the only skippable song in the album!

HLH and CB now give me less effect than the live versions did.

what's wrong with you people?? Major Minus is one of the best on the album! Who's with me? :\

Me !! It's my second favourite ! It's really amazing!

I have to say ETIAW has grown on me a lot, even some of the cheesy lyrics. It just seems to work now.

I really love Up in Flames and I skip Paradise because I like to listen to Charlie Brown after HLH.

I'm with you! Major Minus is one of my favorites! The studio version of Hurts like Heaven has grown on me a little. I wasn't a fan first listen, because I thought the vocal effects slaughtered the beauty of it, but I'm quite enjoying it now. I was not a fan of Paradise the first day I heard it as a single, and it's still not a favorite, but I enjoy it a lot more now. Charlie Brown has been a favorite for me since the summer and continues to be. Up in Flames is no better than the cruddy recorded live version. And I still don't like it after 11 or so listens to the album. PoC has gone downhill for me. I was tolerable of the track at first, but now I actually get kind of angry when I hear the track and skip it because I can't stand the pain any longer. I agree with others that the ending AHT, DLIBYH, UWTB has really really grown on me. They all flow well together and it makes such a beautiful ending.

I feel the same way about EDIWF. At the beginning I must confess I didn't like it that much. But now that I listened to the whole album it makes more sense. It is a great tune to listen on my car full volume with the windows down :D

Paradise my favorite by far since the first time I listened to it.

Hurt Like Heaven grow a lot after some listening, on the other end MM i became tired of it, so now a skip it a lot along with POC...
