Hey everyone, I have a friend who's going to Europe in january and she's crazy about music and everything so I thought it wouldn't be that bad if I asked her to look for some Coldplay singles since music stores would definitely be one of her aims :P Here in Brazil you can't find singles in stores, only the albums. She's going to Lisbon, Berlin, Paris, Madrid and Barcelona, London and Amsterdam so I was wondering if any of you, foreign coldplayers ( :nice: ), would give me a tip and point me some interesting stores in those cities she could find it since I have no clue. I was wondering if someone can still find singles like yellow and shiver in normal stores? Or the best you could get would be the more recent ones, like the ones from the viva era, besides the MX's ones? And what about posters, t-shirts...? We brazilian Coldplay fans are extremelly pour on Coldplay diversity! :P

Thank you very much!

I'm not in Europe. I'd point your friend to HMV store in any city as far as singles. For merchandise, just order from coldplay.com.

HMV? Took note, thank you. The problem of ordering merchandise from coldplay.com is that the shipping fee is incredibly expensive to us and when the product gets here, it's taxed 60% more from the price of the product + shipping. In the end, I would end up paying the triple or something like that :/

You can often find all of that stuff on eBay for low/no shipping. I guess they'd still tax it to death, but it's something to loof at.

I've already heard that eBay isn't one of the most trusteable ones, Tracie, is that true? But I've already bought some very nice stuff from amazon, for example. It seems that physical music stores are coming to an end. It would be so much easier for me if this friend of mine could simply go to the stores so that I wouldn't have to worry with the shippings that are usually high... :/

I've only used eBay 6 or 7 times, but haven't had a bad experience with it. Got my MX tee from eBay. But I've heard horror stories too.

I don't know if they still sell singles (they sold some when I was there a couple of years ago) but if you're going to Paris you might want to check out Fnac. :) I live in Denmark, though, so that's all the advice I have.

Try going to poster stores specifically to find that.

I have bought 1,000's of things on Ebay - lots of Coldplay stuff for my daughter and never had any problems (always received refund if I didn't get something or it was misrepresented)... though I have heard of HMV in London. Good Luck!!

I once saw the singles collection in a (dutch) musicstore,

but haven't seen one for the past year or so

still regret not buying it then..

Thank you for the replies, guys!

Hmmmm, this thing that I have with eBay is based on 2 stories I've heard from a friend of mine, who wasn't lucky enough to get what she had ordered and didn't get the money back :sad3:

Oh, there is a Fnac in here as well, but I bet it doesn't even compare to the one in Paris. Thank you, Clocks In My Place (sorry, dunno your name :/), I'll sure tell her to check it out! :)

strikie, do you remember the name of the store?

*bump*

If anyone else has any other tip, let Li know (and everybody else, since this info may be useful for people who get the chance to go abroad).

And just to emphasise, for some reason we just got Mylo Xyloto today. Who do we have to bang to get a copy when almost the rest of the world does so? I mean, really... (:P)

Try Amazon.co.uk as well. They've got great prices and I've never had any problems with them.

Olá Lívia :)

I see your friend is coming to Lisbon too! As someone mentioned fnac is probably the best place here to buy singles. We don't have HMW though. I'm going to ask some friends and do a little research and if i find something i'll let you know.

It's been awhile so don't know if you remember me but we talked a few times before. Hope everything is ok :nice:

IloveChris, I've already tried it and it's definitely a good place to find great stuff! ;)

  Su Paltrow (:P) that's not fair, is it? Have your already got yours? I didn't see it in BH yet, can you believe it?

Lili! Of course I remember you! :nice: Awww, thank you for being so kind! So is there a fnac in Lisbon as well? Gotta write every single possibility! :P

Does anybody know if Virgin is a good shot in Paris? It's still opened there, right? I got traumatized when I knew the huge one in NY got closed.

I was in Amsterdam 2 days ago and there was a music/movie store called FAME, they had a box with Coldplay singels from 1999-2006 it costs 80 euros though. It was a very heavy and nice box but a little too expensive for me.

FAME will close its doors for good on 29 January 2012. Because of that they will not have a lot of stock left in the last month of their existence.

Ebay can be very good. You can see if the seller is thrustworthy by feedback other buyers have left. When eg. they have 2000 positive reviews and no bad ones, I think you can trust them. I have bought many music items on there as well and it all went fine. Shipping from other continents wasn't much too if you make a right deal.

If your friend wants to try FAME in Amsterdam, then he can use this website to find any items of Coldplay they still have in store. It gets updates daily so if singles are still on there, then he knows for sure he can get it. I see that only that earlier mentioned €80 single collection is left though, no separate singles :(

Thanks everyone for the info :)

Got mine today :smug: (after getting lost downtown :freak:)

Edit: At Livraria Cultura, people can also get McMginn's Roadie. You can get the Brazilian Portuguese version or the original version (this takes estimated 6 weeks - probably a little less because I bought an imported book once and it took less than a week to arrive in the store).

I live in France there are virgin megastore but I also looking for singles of Coldplay but I do not think so!

Yes, there are three FNAC stores in Lisbon. Since your friend is a tourist here i'll recommend that she goes to the one in Chiado.

Search Google Maps for: ARMAZÉNS DO CHIADO, Rua do Carmo, Lisboa. FNAC is inside ARMAZÉNS DO CHIADO.

I think it's her best shot at finding what she is looking for.

If she wants some more alternative music stores there is one called Flur.

Here is their website: http://www.flur.pt/FLUR/flur1.html

I've actually never been there but have heard good things about it.

I was trying to search a few more stores and came across this:

http://geo.cm-lisboa.pt/fileadmin/GEO/Imagens/Fotos_Baixa_Chiado/PDF_Baixa_Chiado/Discotecas_Net_redi.pdf

It's a list of music stores in downtown Lisbon. Don't know if it is updated. And since we both speak Portuguese no need to do a translation ;).

FAME should be an awesome store though (I've never been), and it's on the main shopping street in Amsterdam. Too bad they're gonna close. :shame:

By they way, you probably know it, Li, but the Brazilian FNAC branch and Livraria Cultura can deliver it to BH. Saraiva also got it, but I haven't ordered anything from it (but people say it's also trustworthy).

In Lisbon, tell her to go to FNAC in Chiado or FNAC in Colombo or even in FNAC from Vasco da Gama - they are all commercial centres. :)

@ That singles box is my dream  but I guess 80 euros is indeed too much. I`ve already seen it in amazon for 60 dollars! The difference is huge, that`s weird!

@ Oh no! Closing its doors for good, Tash? Hopefully show would find something there!

@ Wyrd, thank you for the website! :nice: Is that every teardrop item the ep? Couldn`t find a place where I could click to see it...

@ Su, I`ve ordered Matt`s book 2 weeks ago! :nice: Hopefully it won`t take too long to arrive here. haha, come on, how could you almost get lost in downtown? In the historic center? And yeah, I`ve already ordered Coldplay stuff from Saraiva and checked Cultura. I haven`t found any singles on FNAC though. It would be so much easier if they could just sell singles in normal stores

@ Clairounette, sorry to hear that. I thought Virgin was the biggest one of all times in terms of singles! :/

@ Wow, thank you veeeery much, Lili! I`ve checked the link with the list and some of them even have a website! That`s awesome! And Flur seems so cool! So, Chiado is a neighborhood, right?

@ Thank you, Maria! I`ve just wrote it down! I`ll tell her all the three ones! ;)

@ Wyrd, thank you for the website! :nice: Is that every teardrop item the ep? Couldn`t find a place where I could click to see it...
No idea, I also cannot click on the item. But I guess that if it was about the EP they would have added it as extra info :\
