  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

I haven't been in here since forever. How's all the Muse fans doing. I can't believe they started playing Hoodoo. That is my favorite song on Black Holes and I didn't get to see it live when they played in the US. Oh well, there's always next time.

Setlist from tonight (November 10th)

'Take A Bow'

'Hysteria'

'Map Of The Problematique'

'Butterflies'

'Assassin'

'Plug In Baby'

'Muscle Museum'

'Forced In'

'Bliss'

'Feeling Good'

'Hoodoo'

'Invincible'

'Supermassive Black Hole'

'Time Is Running Out''

'Stockholm Syndrome'

'Starlight'

'New Born'

'Knights Of Cydonia'

Assassin was extended and something was wrong with Matthew's megaphone during Feeling Good so he threw it down. Aaaaah, Muscle Museum! Sadly, no CE.

That is a very good setlist, the only thing I'd change is to replace Invincible with CE. But since this is a tour to promote BH&R, it's understandable why they want to play as many songs from the new album as possible. And maybe I'd put Starlight and New Born the other way around, New Born would be excellent as an opener of the encore. But still, this is an excellent setlist. And since they're always amazing live, it's no matter what they play, it's still good.

haha I'd love to have seen Matt throw that megaphone towards Dom, glad it didn't hit him though. The other night Matt broke one of his guitars too (I'm not exactly sure if he broke it or if it just broke..) Lots of stuff gets broken these days apparently.

These pics are from Glasgow gig (November 7)

oooo i went last night to manchester and i was unbelievably close..there was only one person in front of me! it was absolutely amazing and the lights were fantastic!! if you're going to see them tonight or any other date you're in for a treat!

when i am going i will be praying for them to play Citizen Erased.

Obviously i will still have the best time ever without it but still Citizen Erased is one of Muse's best songs and so fucking fantastic live! :)

This song has been stuck on my head for days now.. Not a bad thing really, since I love the song. ;)

Sadly this is not live, the only live version I could find was not a very good quality so thought I'd post this one.

In Your World. :)

Is a good song ...

i haven't actually seen that video, it was released with Dead Star as a joint single about 5 years ago ... anyway that looks like some of that has been taken from the Hullabaloo dvd.

Setlist from the welsh leg of the U.K. tour:

And if it wasn't for the shit support (The Noisettes) than that gig would be number 1 in my list of 20, but due to the shit support band, it's down in 7th.

Wonder what the circles and stars mean.

i saw them in glasgow-CANNOT BELIEVE manchester got muscle museum!

although i took me till sat to get showbiz so i wouldn't have known the words!

apparently reading they all had the big hexagon things dom was in!

my 1st gig-so FANTASTIC.

you're in for a treat if you're gonna see them.

plug in baby-and kisses for the audience!!

You know that video for supermassive black hole they play in the background (the one with the red robots), I am sure I have seen that video before at another gig.

Matt's piano playing at the end there blows my mind.

I've heard that he's self taught on the piano too... :stunned: It's no fair- I took lessons for years and I can hardly play a simple tune.

Yep, I heard he can't read music notes.

i did have piano lessons too,but i stopped them, cos i knew all my favorite songs without notes

I took piano lessons too but I never had the patience to practice so I quit..

Matt didn't take piano lessons, his parents let him play as much as he wanted and what he wanted. So he just played for fun. If I say he is talented it seems like it's an understatement of the century. That sort of talent must be very rare. Still he's very modest about his playing skills. Here's an extranct of an interview for a Finnish music magazine (and this is my translation so if there're some sort of strange words and grammar mistakes they're mine:D)

"I don't think I'm a very good rock guitarist, but with piano I can play some things that might sound complicated. I don't practice technical stuff with any instrument. So I don't knowingly or consistently improve my technical skills. But it's still nice that there's enough skill in our band so that we can do more than just the usual stuff. If you want to do something that is different, it's good to have a command of your instrument."

That's one of the reasons I love Muse.. they do something which isn't ordinary or conventional. There're some people I know who are not Muse fans but still appreciate the talent and skill they have.

haha Matt - 'i don't think i'm a very good rock guitarist' .......

that is being very very modest. :stunned: but what a legend he is!:D

Yes, he is very modest, but if you compare with other great guitarists (Hendrix, Vaughan, Clapton, Page, Gilmour, Greenwood, Morello, and even Molko), it appears that he is actually no very good rock guitarist. I love what he does, and God knows I love Muse, his performances are impressive, but it's rather because of some "feeling", or "presence" he has than talent or skill. For example, if you see some Bliss performances where he ends laying on the ground, madly scratching his strings, I find this great, but the guitar actually sounds ugly !

There's an incredible 'feeling' and 'presence' when he plays, like you said. I'm no expert when it comes to playing the guitar, so I have to admit I don't know anything about the technical side. But I do believe he is very talented and he could develop his technical skills if he wanted to. But clearly that's not so important to him and in a way I think the way he plays is exactly how it should be for Muse (that sounded bit strange but you know what I mean!) For me, it's the 'feeling' that matters. ;)
