Muse confirm show at new Wembley

Indie group Muse have become the first band to confirm that they will play at the revamped Wembley Stadium in London.

They will appear on 16 June, with tickets going on sale this Saturday.

The £757m ground was to reopen in August 2005, but a series of hold-ups led to several high-profile music and sports events being postponed.

The Rolling Stones, Take That, Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams were forced to switch venues, while this year's FA Cup final was played in Cardiff instead.

In a statement on their website, Muse - whose current single Knights of Cydonia entered the top 40 at number 10 on Sunday - said they were "delighted" about such "good news".

There are likely to be further events announced over the next few months

Michael Cunnah, chief executive, Wembley Stadium

Meanwhile Wembley Stadium's chief executive, Michael Cunnah, has offered an update on the reconstruction work, saying the venue was now "looking magnificent".

"With good progress being made on site we are aiming to open as early as possible in 2007," he said.

"We are currently in discussions with a number of event owners and promoters.

"There are likely to be further events announced over the next few months."

The stadium is likely to open with the FA Cup final on 19 May.

They're also planning some other European dates for the summer!

No matter the cost, I'll be seeing them next year even if I have to travel abroad. Which means I'll be working long hours to raise the money. But it's worth it.

Linnea, is there any way that you upload Assassin extended version so that all your friends at Coldplaying's Muse thread can download it and share your happiness ?

haha yes suppose I could do that :)

hmm I'll have to check if I have some empty cd's somewhere..

the song is in protected format, but suppose if I can find a cd I could burn it and then rip it again from the cd and then upload it..

I'll try and do that tomorrow ;)

That concert is going to be massive. Literally.

:idea2: Supermassive!! Sorry, i just couldn't resist :embarassed:

Wish I could afford tickets to go to Wembley Stadium! Would be awesome.

I went to my first ever concert there. Nothing beats seeing a gig at the stadium, seriously. It really feels like you are a part of something huge.

you think they'll be at glasto again?

also, where do you get glasto tickets (or try to get)

Ticket info is put on the Glastonbury website at the beginning of the year, once they have their licence confirmed etc.

Then tickets will be on sale from the beginning of April.

Some info abou the Wembley Gig

So, Muse are playing Wembley Stadium?

Yes. On the 16th June 2007. A Saturday.

So when do tickets go on sale?

General sale begins on 9th December, 9am GMT.

Where can I buy tickets in the general sale?

Pasted from the various websites that have reported this:

By telephone: Ticketmaster - 0871 230 4425 (Dedicated Muse line)

See tickets: 0871 2200 260

Ticketline: 0871 424 4444

Stargreen: 0207 734 8932

By mobile phone: ticketrush.co.uk

In person: at Wembley Arena box office (no booking fee for cash purchases) or Stargreen box office

Disabled bookings: through Ticketmaster: 0870 4000 750

Online:

http://www.muse.mu

http://www.gigsandtours.com

http://www.LiveNation.co.uk

http://www.Ticketline.co.uk

If buying online please remember than constantly clicking refresh may more than likely crash the servers of the site you are using. DO NOT REFRESH CONSTANTLY. I know it's tempting because you really want tickets...but if you do that, and everyone else does it, and the site crashes NOBODY will be able to access the page. Be considerate. There's 1000s of others wanting a ticket just as much as you do.

Where is the presale link?

As I type this [the evening of 4th December 10pm GMT] there is no known presale link - so please stop panicking.

EDIT [5th December 15:50pm GMT]: Those of you on the mailing list SHOULD have received an email about Wembley by now. This is for the GENERAL SALE. So from now on, we are assuming that there will be NO presale - if it turns out there is, I will inform you. HOWEVER, for now...stop asking if there's a presale. It appears that there isn't one.

How much are tickets?

Again. Nobody knows yet. This information has not been released. I am assuming it will be confirmed soon. As it is a stadium gig, my estimates will be anywhere between £30-£50, discounting special tickets such as a golden circle should there be one. Again, NONE of this is confirmed and NOBODY within the fanbase knows.

How big is this gig exactly?

Apparently it will be Muse's biggest live date in their career so far, so pretty big. I am not sure on the capacity but reports are saying that it will be set at 75 000. I do not know how much of this is standing/seating but seeing as it's Wembley there will be less standing at a guess. If you REALLY want to stand, my advice is to book tickets asap once they go on sale. Without clicking refresh constantly of course .

How will seating work? Is there a seating plan?

So far, nothing in terms of seating has been confirmed. Apparently in the past there has been a system of Golden, Silver and Regular seats [Gold being the most expensive and best view]...but it is not known if this gig will follow a similar pattern.

NO FAIR! Why is this gig getting a thread/FAQ about it? What about *insert gig/festival* here.

We'd be here all night if we created individual threads for every gig/leg of their tours! I decided to do this because with it being such a huge gig, there's likely to be international interest. I anticipate that many of you wanting to go will be coming from mainland Europe or even the States! It is fair to say that this gig is of interest to ALL of us...therefore it needs a sticky because the discussion thread is already over 100 pages long and I doubt anyone wants to read through it all just to find out the info I've posted here!

Hopefully this thread will stop people thinking they've missed out on some important info. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, make them in the main [unlocked] Stadium thread and a moderator will be happy to add it to this thread as soon as the info is avaliable to them.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a thread to help you find hotels/etc. It's just about the gig. However, people with experience of London in the other thread will be happy to help with transport queries/hotels if you ask them nicely.

Thanks for the pics

Awwee, I'm still on dom mood..just look at him

And thanks Linnea for the file!!
