The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You

Hmmm, good point.

My parents played U2 and that's what I started to listen to when I got into music.

So I don't blame them, but they still should get into them,

one of the best rock bands in the world to be honest and they've changed so much over the years.

ANYWAYS

back to Muse, they are becoming pretty prolific if i say so myself and will be around making music for a long time

  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

dont want to turn this into a U2 thread. but im not at all surprised that people dont know much about U2. im assuming that violetsparks is around 20-ish yrs old so her generation would be 2002 to about now, a period in which U2 has produced music that hasnt had much of an impact at all on the music scene bar maybe Vertigo. i know they are doing massive stadium tours but those stadiums are filled with people much older than us.

wow, guys. you just made me feel totally old. Achtung came out while I was in high school. :( thanks for that. :P

but yeah, I see your point. Violetsparks, you should check out Achtung Baby. :)

And since we're returning to Muse, did anyone happen to see the review of their VMAs performance in Entertainment Weekly? They gave it a B-. Their basic critique was that it was trying to "out-Queen Queen" or something along those lines, and that it ran a bit too long.

omfg cooky just called and i iheard knights of c. omg awesome

@Christa, (hi, I'm Jen :nice:) so cool! where did she call from?

i would of given it a D- at best. muse played real music at the VMA's. thats an absolute disgrace! im surprised MTV didnt cut to an ad break half way through the first chorus. or they should've gotten kanye to jump in halfway and scream "U2 released the best stadium rock album OF ALL TIME MAN! OF ALL TIME!" now that would of gotten them an A++ in my books.

the band has started their support of U2 at the Giants Stadium. They played 10 songs which is pretty good.

1. America

2. Hysteria

3. Supermassive Black Hole

4. Resistance

5. United States of Eurasia

6. Starlight

7. Undisclosed Desires

8. Time Is Running Out

9. Uprising

10. Knights of Cydonia

that sounds like a good 10 songs to me! :)

just on the muse website at the moment. out of the 30 or so shows they are doing in a next few months, only 6 or 7 are sold out! whats going on?

that's strange...

i wanted to see them open for U2 in Toronto, but those tickets were impossible... :(

Tickets are still available to the show I'm going to. Not sure if that has something to do with how big the stadium is (80K or so) are all the stadiums they're playing in similar in size?

^^

are going to the cowboys stadium show? if you are could you please try and answer the questions i asked in the U2 thread about the show!

They opened for U2 tonight. I honestly never really like what I've heard from clips of songs, but they put on one hell of a show. I really now want to know what songs they played because it was really great!

i posted the setlist on the previous page. im very glad you enjoyed their performance but not at all surprised.

oh thanks... didn't see it

Cool! so glad you liked it! Can't wait to see this show... just a couple more weeks for me!

theyve just released a big wad of tickets again - additional ones have been made available. original tickets for the whole tour sold out in about 15 minutes

dunno why, but i had a dream about muse last night xD i dreamt i was listening to the new cd - so maybe that's a sign that i should go and do that? xD is it out yet?

It's out already. I'd say buy it ... ... the album has some weak songs, but in general it's worth buying. ;)

@Christa, (hi, I'm Jen :nice:) so cool! where did she call from?

hello jen, nice to meet you! she called from the meadowlands/giants stadium, fucking jersey where they played last night!!! the reception was horrible but i still heard it, the reception was actually better when she called from Wembley!!!

aside from the secret gig they did at the small venue in nyc for vma (did not win tix, big cry) they need to come back to NYC!!! they would be amazing in Radio City!

@Christa- is U2 not playing New York?? that seems crazy!

Anyway, so cool that you got to listen in on a bit. and wow. how amazing would it have been to be at the gig for the VMAs?? They gave away tickets to it? sorry you didn't win any! :(

the bassist is Adam Clayton and the guitarist is The Edge.

get on it people, how have you not listened to U2? I am shocked completely.

Bono is the lead singer and Larry Mullen Jr. is the drummer... just to let you know

Ha. Shows how much I know about U2. I think I got that confused somewhat with RHCP; since I knew "The Flea" is RHCP's bassist, I thought it was the same for U2 and "The Edge." At least I got his name right. :P And if I know one thing about U2, I know Bono's the vocalist, so I didn't mess up completely. :laugh4:

I'm a little over 19 1/2, so your assumption was quite accurate. :) "Vertigo" is one of the few songs I actually know by U2. HA.

I think it's been that way for a while now. Since probably "Absolution," they become more and more well known from an international standpoint.

but yeah, I see your point. Violetsparks, you should check out Achtung Baby. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

there were so many quotes there, it almost shattered my universe! :P lol

but yeah, you should familiarize yourself with U2

and I hope Muse can put out another record within 2 years....

well so far its been

1999-showbiz

2001- origin of symmetry

2003 - absolution

2006- black holes &revelations

2009- the resistance

i think they are starting to stick to the 3year gaps between albums and considering how long their tours run for thats not too bad. but i think after no.6 they will do the mandatory-stadium-rockers-u2-esque 4 year gap between albums.

grrr, i hope not! :P

I wish it'd come out faster. the 2 year gap would be nicer...

who knows

maybe they'll get a rush of creativity and jump right back into the studio

2 year gap would also mean shorter tours which means one visit to aus instead of the two they've paid us on their previous couple of tours. (jan and sept 2004 and jan and nov 2007)
