Hey folks! Today I received an email from Coldplaying.com where they say it's been a while I don't visit the site. I just realized that:

- it's been a while I don't read anything about Coldplay (I used to buy magazines from all around the world)

- it's been a while I don't watch anything from Coldplay (I used to see all the videos and I watched the Live DVD about 1000 times)

- it's been a while I don't buy any album from Coldplay (I used to buy all the Albums, EPs, and DVDs, from many different countries, I even have one from Japan)

- it's been a while I don't listen to Coldplay! :(

Ā

But if someone asks me "what's is your favorite band?" I answer "Coldplay" right away! So what happenede? Am I still a Coldplay fan?

I'm gonna spare you the mass trolling you might get

Everyone has a phase where they're in love with a band. And then they just stop listening because their taste in music changes or they just get tired of it. But if you don't dislike the music and feel like you're a part of the band's following, you're still a fan. Even if you listen much less than usual. Maybe later you'll listen to Coldplay again.

Yes. I listen to so many different styles now that it's hard to choose the one I prefer. But I'm sure I'll listen to Coldplay again. I think it's just the fact that I didn't enjoy very much the latest two albums. The best album in my opinion it's A Rush Of Blood To The Head! Chris used to say it was time to stop. Maybe he was right cause the latest albums wasn't that good. But they might change! I just don't like the fact they put Rihanna in their album. She has nothing to do with them. I think it's just for the money! One band I think It's awesome and I like and admire them more and more is The Black Eyed Peas! I listen to TBEP since 2001! They're better now!

I think just because your not into them right now doesn't mean you don't like them any more. For example my favorite band is, and always has been The Beatles. I hadn't listened to them for a very long time and was starting to think like you. But after that break I came back to them and everything was fresh and I remembered why I love them so much. I'm not nearly as obsessed with them as I used to be (I've found many new groups since then) but they are still special to me (and I count them as my favorite group). Mabey it'll be the same for you  :)

Oh and MX's artwork is like if Ed Hardy released a clothing line for toddlers.

I disagree. And I like the artwork very much. :wacky:

Except the crappy artwork on the singles. That I have to agree just sucks.

And I love MX :wacky:

I'm a crazy dazzled fangirl, but if you don't like MX I'm not gonna say "booo you're not a true Coldplay fan!". That's BS.

As Dee said, everyone goes through phases. It's OK. If you're not in a Coldplay phase, but you still feel you have a connection to them, I'd say there's a chance you might still be a fan :smug:

everyone goes through a phase like this. it doesn't mean that you don't like coldplay any more. you may still be a fan but not be as "crazy" about them as you once were, that's all

I think everyone goes through stages of listening to a favourite band non stop for a certain amount of time, then after a while listens to other artists,,Coldplay are my number 1 band,,and I do listen to them a lot,but then I could go through few weeks of listening to other music, rap, pop, metal,,from one extreme to another, variety is good!.No doubt you'll still listen to them, just maybe not as much for a while :)

Being a fan of a band doesn't mean you'll blindly like whatever that band does (if you do happen to like everything, but without forgetting some sense of criticism it's ok, I guess). If you don't like Coldplay newest material, you still have the songs you've fallen in love with in the first place. As long as that connection doesn't die away and these songs bear some meaning to you, I think you're still a fan if that word means so much to you.

Ā

I think Will's answer in a recent interview may fit in:

Ā

Alisa S.: At this stage in your career, is it difficult to take new directions artistically? Do you ever worry that your artistic evolution could alienate long-time fans?

Ā

Will: No. Because those fans still have the music that they liked in the first place. We're not changing what we've done in the past - hopefully they will always enjoy that music. But we have to keep challenging ourselves and making it interesting for ourselves.

Ā

Also, although it's sort of natural to, besides listening to their songs, reading all sorts of articles, interviews and the like, this is not necessarily entailed by the definition of being a fan (though I emphasise the two things go together as often as not). Each person express their love and enthusiasm in their own way and it may change as time goes by, as already mentioned above.

Ā

The same applies to collecting Coldplay-related things.

Indeed.

I know I'll be accused of not understanding sarcasm (oftentimes, it is true), but you actually said "I'm a crazy dazzled fangirl, but if you don't like MX I'm not gonna say 'booo you're not a true Coldplay fan!' That's BS.", so there isn't really room for a joke.

Yes, thanks for that, I don't really understand either. :uhoh:

Meh.
