Would you change the tracklists?

I know people have talked about how they would change MX, but I don't know if there is an actual thread covering all 5 albums. If you could change the tracklist of any of Coldplay's 5 albums what would you do? You could just change one song if you wanted, or completely re-order an album. I would be interested to see people's ideas.

I think VLVODAAHF was a brilliant album. I think it's fine the way it is, same with the others.

I don't care much for Parachutes (besides Don't Panic, Spies, Yellow, Parachutes and Life is for Living), so I'd pretty much leave that as it is. I'd swap High Speed for See You Soon though. Always puzzles me why that's not there...

 

A Rush of Blood is, again, pretty good in terms of tracklisting. I'd swap Crests of Waves in and A Whisper out though. Also, I'd make The Scientist the closer and just bump everything else up a place.

 

X&Y is where I'd really change things. For starters, I'd rename it "Twisted Logic" due to it being a much better title imho, plus X&Y (the song) would be gone:

With the exception of Lost!, though, I am very happy with this album's ordering.

 

Mylo Xyloto is a ridiculous title, and I get the idea behind but I think I'd go for something more traditional. The order wouldn't change that much - with this album particularly it's hard to imagine the songs in a drastically different order, but I would make some changes. For example, renaming the album either, "A Hopeful Transmission" or "Major Minus".

Yellow has such a big, immediate sound, I felt it grabs your attention quite well as the album opener. Don’t Panic seemed to fit better straight after Shiver, rather than opening the album. Parachutes just seemed very unnecessary at Track #7 due to its length. So I replaced it with the semi-longer Help Is Round The Corner because it still offers listeners a Chris acoustic solo. Instead of We Never Change at Track #9, For You is a nice, melancholic song that seemed to fit well straight after High Speed. It also prepares listeners for the piano heavy Everything’s Not Lost.

The one thing I feel lets X&Y down the most is the thirteen song track list. Therefore, I’ve tried to cut it down to around ten, making it quicker for listeners to get through. The Hardest Part, Swallowed In The Sea, Twisted Logic and Til Kingdom Come were all removed as I felt they didn’t suit the overall feel X&Y was trying to go for. I’ve always felt Speed Of Sound and Low sounded better closer to the start of the album, rather than midway through. Proof sounds amazing as an album closer, particularly after Fix You.

Keeping in theme with making more compact albums, I removed all the hidden tracks (Reign Of Love, Chinese Sleep Chant and The Escapist) and Yes. I added Glass Of Water because it sounds like a song that was destined to be on the album. I’ve enjoyed the way Prospekt’s March / Poppyfields segues into Lovers In Japan on the Prospekt’s March EP. So, I’ve decided to put those two in that order on the album. Another amazing segue I’ve heard live was Postcards From Far Away into Viva La Vida. It was a no brainer to put those two songs next to each other. I've always found the order of Viva La Vida-Violet Hill-Strawberry Swing-Death And All His Friends to be fifteen amazing minutes of music. Was never going to change that around!
