Songs which sound better live

Featured Replies

I was thinking about this the other day, about songs which sound better live than they do studio...

for example, off MX

MX/Hurts Like Heaven sound better live in my opinion, as does Major Minus, what does everyone else think about all 5 albums song's live and studio?:-)

Jack!

I think Major Minus sounds so much better live than on the album.

Hurts Like Heaven would have sounded so much better on the record if the rhythm guitar was put in. Major Minus has a special something live, as well.

Major Minus, PoC, Yellow. Also Lovers in Japan sounds a lot better (if thats even possible!) live because you can hear Guy's bass more and also J's guitar more.

In My Place, Paradise (I love the guitars on the intro), Lost!, Yellow (faster!), Violet Hill (amazing vocals live) and I guess that's it.

Oh and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, especially the version they have been playing during the MX Tour.

Both recent versions of GPASOYF, the latest one and the techno version, with Talk. Love this one! I wish it was on CD somewhere.

In my place, politik, the hardest part, Amsterdam if they would ever play it again!

ETIAW. There's so much power when they play that song live! I was amazed when I heard it live for the first time!

I think Coldplay in general sound better live than on record.

Paradise sounds so much better live than on record (when Chris' vocals are good anyway) and I agree about HLH too. Actually the only songs on MX that don't sound better live are Up in Flames and Princess of China (IMO)

Violet Hill sounds rubbish live though. Just saying.

IMO, Paradise and Violet Hill are the worst live. The choruses sound as if sung by the Muppets.

Best when live for me , Major Minus (of fucking course), Hurts Like Heaven, UATW, Life Is For Living, Politik, Lost ( is a beast live ) ...

Although its always better to the songs live. Particuarly, from this tour, certainly Major Minus has a new life, but back in the day, hearing Spies, as an opening song, in dark room was special

fix you is just brilliant live when the guitar and drums come in

so much energy

i think hurts like heaven is the one that sounds better live and also politik because it's kind of more powerfull live (IMO)

Hurts Like Heaven sounds amazing live it sounds so full. Violet Hill is even louder live, than I expected.

So I am going to see them live for the first time in a little less than two months. I get chills when I hear live versions of their songs on my iPod. So I'm guessing that when I do hear them live, i'm just probably going to die from sensation overload ?? :stunned:

:edit: song I most want to hear live: Clocks

Yellow

Everything's Not Lost

Life Is For Living

Politik

In My Place

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

Clocks (especially the Twisted Logic tour version :wacky: )

A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Square One

What If

Swallowed In The Sea

Lost!

Lovers In Japan

Viva la Vida

Violet Hill

Mylo Xyloto / Hurts Like Heaven

Major Minus
