Anyone else find it interesting that the Hypnofeed is pornography? In Silencia, people are just stumbling around and falling over from too much pornography. To say the least, it's a pretty unique way for the band to make a statement on modern culture and media…

I hope that that's what it is it'd be really disappointing if this whole thing is filled with porn.

^It's not only porn. For Mylo, it's like he is famous, or loved by everyone. I guess it's more like hypnofeed is some kind of TV, which purpose is alienate people. They watch what pleases them.

Good point. I definitely see that there are more elements to the hypnofeed than porn alone. Regardless, using that example inside the helmet during the opening pages is still… rather peculiar.

From the start, Coldplay know this comic will be read by millions of people. They could put anything in these pages. And right away we have imagery of a victim of pornography.

Obviously, there's going to be a lot of content in these 6 issues. I guess I'm just impressed that the band isn't afraid to address these controversial topics. Probably for the same reasons as choosing to write a song like Yes.

Haha my apologies for getting really philosophical about one picture:)

Yes can be interpretted in different ways. Basically, the strongest lyrics are:

When it started we were alright

But night makes a fool of us in daylight

There we were dying of frustration

Saying, "Lord lead me not into temptation"

But it's not easy when she turns you on

I see the song as a struggle with the physical temptation of [premarital] sex. It's also kind of interesting that a non openly christian band is quoting the bible.

Well Ufo pretty much seals the deal on that. Also please tell me that's a finger going in the girls mouth.

LOL. I always find funny that people thinks this song refers to a woman, but it do not. The one who tempts the man in the story is Death itself.

He is a prisoner and he has to try harder everyday to don't fall in the temptation of suiciding.

Let's put a marker in what we've discovered.

•The story has place in SILCENCIA

•The race of Irdoks, which Majos Minus belongs, rules this world with a false policy of peace.

•They command the Silencers, who are responsible for the maintenance of the 'peace' in the world.

•To help them, they have the Hypnofeed, it's like a hypnotic kind of media, a brain wash, to keep the civilians away from making something they must not.

•The Irdoks says the color and sound that appear once in a while in the city are made by The Eaters. A lie. It's only to keep the civilians away from the art, that is actually made for those 'rebels' we can see in the first pages.

•There is an "A Hopeful Transmission" symbol in every Hypnofeed helmet.

•Mylo is a Silencer.

•REX(Mylo's best friend) is the pink one.

Everyone got those conclusions?

Oh and thanks for the scans.

^ for anyone who's confused. (thanks to rafaelchampion)

That's a personal interpretation. Did a member of Coldplay actually say that ?

I agree with this interpretation, I kinda see the song that way too, but it may be about something completely different, hey, it could be about a woman.

Seeing that other lyrics in the song are about death, I'd say the "temptation" is suicide.

I agree. I was just sayin that you can't say that someone is wrong for interpreting a song in one certain way (unless the songwriter specifically explained the song already).

Yeah, you're right, no one have confirmed that.

But it's so coldplayish that I can see Chris saying "No one will ever know" LOL:laugh3:

Agreed, also noticing parallels with politics post-9/11... something really bad happens, then people use that fear and the promise of safety to oppress others, gain things and stay in power once they get it...

That was definitely an awesome thread to read!

Before this comic, interpreting MX was very similar to interpreting Viva La Vida. Both had a sense of narrative, and some structure that strung the songs together. Since it's release, Coldplayers have written about a thousand different stories explaining Mylo Xyloto–which each have their own validity. Yet not one of them is even close to the universe being revealed in these comics.

With Coldplay's lyrics, they create songs that millions of people can relate to. Whether it's love, pain, struggle, or temptation, their music always reaches farther than one character or plot it could be associated with. What really excites me, is their ability to tap into these human emotions using risky and unconventional methods.

In the case of Yes, It simply blows me away that they can sneak the lyrics "Lord lead me not into temptation" onto the number one selling album of 2008.

It's going to be incredible to read these comics. By the time the content of U.F.O. comes up, the religious connotations will surely go through the roof. Or maybe they won't. Either way, It's going to be a fun ride:)

Coldplay has quoted the Bible on multiple occasions. A Message, VLV, Yes, Us Against The World, Up In Flames, etc. They know their Bible. :nod;
