Let's put a marker in what we've discovered.

•The story has place in SILCENCIA

•The race of Irdoks, which Majos Minus belongs, rules this world with a false policy of peace.

•They command the Silencers, who are responsible for the maintenance of the 'peace' in the world.

•To help them, they have the Hypnofeed, it's like a hypnotic kind of media, a brain wash, to keep the civilians away from making something they must not.

•The Irdoks says the color and sound that appear once in a while in the city are made by The Eaters. A lie. It's only to keep the civilians away from the art, that is actually made for those 'rebels' we can see in the first pages.

I'd add that the race of Irdoks does not only rule Silencia, but more (it says in the comic). That's probably why there's only 13 of them on Silencia, but as far as we know this can all be a lie, because they are one big lying bunch eh? ;)

I think you gave it a good go. I only think that with the last point here you are a bit off, because the Irdoks don't say that color and sound in the city are made by Eaters, they merely scare the people by saying that color and sound attracks eaters. According to the rebellions the eaters are a lie. We read that from the grafitti they leave: “the eaters are a lie”.

Btw, I love the grafitti and sparks. It's a mixture of various styles and so nice! :}

Rex says in the comic “I’d rather be wrong than sorry”. We all know the expression should be “Better safe than sorry” which means the opposite! I think they used the expression deliberately wrong to show how wrong the world has become. Moral rules we live up to like ‘by doubt you can better be safe than sorry, because we don’t want to get the innocent hurt’ are reversed here like in 1984 (the book of Orwell that Coldplay already said to be inspired by). In 1984 they have an over controlled state like here that they keep going by simple slogans as we see in the comic. “Work Hard” and “Silence!” They are everywhere on billboards. Propaganda. This is all 1984.

Even the story of a guy that is in the team of controllers to keep the masses (proletarians called in the book, but they seem to be the same as the people in the comic wearing those hypnofeed helmets) but gets wakened up by a young girl who seems a rebellian, that is also in the book. Many, many parallels as I could already find in the lyrics of the album, no even more, the artwork like the eye symbol, even that is all 1984. I don’t think it’s a copy though. For one, many things are heavily based on the ideas of 1984 nowadays, just because the idea was so ground-breaking then and later on we found so much truth in the book that was still completely fiction when written. Another thing is that here we don’t know how it will end. The book is written by a great visionary that rather told the hard reality than a romantic story with a fairy-tale ending. Coldplay though I don’t know if they are capable - and more - willing to let a story end that way.

Because there are so many parallels with the book 1984 I really recommend people to read it. Besides, it’s also a great book in general :P

I am so following this :} I am such a fan of the comic already. I love the idea of having all these little seemingly loose things of this era coming together in here, like the hypnofeed, like who is this Mylo? Even the symbols as rafaelchampion already noticed, the transmission symbol is on each hypnofeed helmet :) It deepens the CD and the CD deepens the comic.

Coldplay's Secret Mylo Xyloto Comic Book Concept!

By Chrissy on July 13, 2012 | From fameball.com

Featuring: Mylo Xyloto | Coldplay Mylo | Comic Con | Con Friday

Well welly well, Coldplay ! Masterminding a creative concept project over many years that combines music, art, and storytelling??? THAT IS AWESOME GALACTIC SPACE SAUCE!!! It seems that Coldplay's latest studio album Mylo Xyloto isn't just a spectacular record, it's also a musical companion to a whole comic book universe, whose main character is called Mylo Xyloto! Famed director/writer Mark Osbourne co-created the comic and its menagerie of characters with Coldplay, and is now FINALLY allowed to talk about this epic construction! Osbourne reveals: "[The comic series] is the story of Mylo Xyloto, a young Silencer on the front lines of a war against sound and color in the world of Silencia. Mylo discovers that the enemy he's been trained to hate his whole life might not be the enemy after all. Like many Silencers, he was raised in an orphanage and conditioned to be a Silencer from a very young age. Legions of Silencers were created after the Great War of Colors took many lives, including the lives of Mylo's parents Aiko and Lela. That war threatened the safety of the citizens and strict measures were put in place to ensure it would never happen again. At the start of our story, Mylo is not so sure that all the propaganda and strict measures are legitimate, but he keeps these concerns close to his vest since they are just vague feelings that even his best friend Rex can't quite support." HOLY STELLAR SHIZ BALLZ! We want it and we want it now!!! But, apparently there are only six issues being released monthly starting February 2013, and the amount will be limited!! Booo! However, if you are heading over to Comic-Con this Friday, members of the Mylo Xyloto creative team will be there to divulge MORE cray cray details at 1pm! Huzzah!

Does anyone else think that the outfit Chris is wearing at the beginning of the PoC video (I know we were supposed to have eliminated that from our minds already!) looks reminiscent of the images they showed of Aiko - the hoodie, the pants, the gloves?

Just me? okay.

^No, not just you, Aiko's look also reminded me of that

I just posted that in the "re-interpreting the album under the light shed by the comic" thread, but I wonder if I should have posted it here instead, because it is more about interpreting the details we have so far on the comic under the light shed by the album...:lol:

Anyway:

I've just taken a look at the excerpts from Chris' notebook for the first time since the revelation of the comic, and boy was that thing in front of us THE WHOLE TIME!:facepalm:

I mean, there's even a page with the names of the characters and things that we still haven't heard of yet, but definitely comic-y:

Zorin

Aiko

Lela

Mylo

Rex

Fly

Boom Boom (everywhere on the notes...ugh, and the way it is written and drawn even just with that we could have guessed they were gonna make a comic! :bomb: )

1ook (that's everywhere too)

MC²

Major Minus

Oh, and I noticed something really interesting. On one page there's a tracklist of MX, from 2010:

GE (I guess this is Great Expectations)

CB

W (This one I don't know  )

HLH

[MMIX]

[Major Minus] SOUNDTRACK

MTM

CK

AHT

ETIAW

That's right, SOUNDTRACK. I guess Major Minus was supposed to be a soundtrack for the movie...

Oh, and also, a few lyrics from The Man Who Swears are written on a page entitled MAJOR MINUS (and there's a little drawing of an angry face):

There's a man who swears he's God

But I'm pretty sure he's not

There's a man who walks around

Like he owns the fuckin lot

Maybe it tells us a bit about MM's personality...(or this song could be something the Sparkers like to sing :surprised: )

On this page, from what I can read, there's also:

"takes his time, playing with your mind"

"crocodile clock"

"all the while

tell you that you're climbing

pulling the ladder apart

saw the boss hogg"

Now it's even clearer how the development of the comic and the album are connected

The part where Mylo uses the hypnofeed helmet reminds me of Sam Lowry's dreams of escapism in 'Brazil', mentioned in the Comic-Con videos. (fantastic, epic film btw, Terry Gilliam's finest) Not so much what he sees, more just that he's becoming addicted to his personal fantasy-land over his work life.

^It's not only porn. For Mylo, it's like he is famous, or loved by everyone. I guess it's more like hypnofeed is some kind of TV, which purpose is alienate people. They watch what pleases them.

The Hypnofeed also has direct inspiration from one of Mark Osborne's earliest short films called "More"

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd0ol25uUVU]more - YouTube[/ame]

Here too the world is devoid of color and the "happy product" (which has the same smiley face as on the Hypnofeed helmets btw) brings in color and entertainment. As mentioned by Mark himself.

"And of course elements like the Hypnofeed were pulled directly from Coldplay lore, mixed with the lore of the body of work from my universe"

I have it all scanned but I'm not sure if it's a good thing to post it, since it's a Coldplay "product" and it would be better if you purchase it? I don't know...

That's my feeling, too. I scanned and uploaded the cover and first 9 pages, but am hesitant to post the whole thing. I know everyone is dying to see it, but it will be available commercially soon, and is only $5. Kind of for the same reason I don't download bootlegs or music, and I don't download music from concerts I haven't attended or that haven't been online "legally" (i.e., Coldplay at Glastonbury last year). Sorry people. I'm just not comfortable posting more of the comic.

I hadn't properly looked into this until now. I'm taking back what I said earlier - this does sound interesting!

It's great how much thought they put into this and the album. It's not just a random comic, it looks like they're criticising our society too, which is good. This might actually be a clever story.

I'm still wary, but also a little excited.

It reminds me of George Orwell too. Also films like Equilibrium, or even Wall-E.

Not all of us can buy it as soon as it's available commercially, at least not here in México. Please post it online, i promise i'll buy it as soon as it comes out in my country :)

Bongo comics (Simpsons & co.) are not sold on Brazil. It's my biggest wish to buy Mylo Xyloto comics but I don't know if I wil ever be capable of looking at them personally. I know it doesn't feel right but I see us like we're all a Family here. If you don't want to post you maybe could send us by PM... if it doesn't look so wrong...
