iTunes Getting Rid of Ping!?!?

Featured Replies

I went onto iTunes to check my Ping status, and this popped up:

I personally loved Ping! I liked being able to connect with my favorite artists without having to have a Facebook.

Ping still existing is news to me.

I'm not surprised Ping's gone. Apple need to start integrating apps into Facebook for the company to expand in the social networking world... just as Spotify and Last.fm have.

Personally I really don't like Facebook, but it's become such a 'necessity' nowadays, in a way, to have one.

I can't imagine why Apple would have any trouble in the social networking world though. They're doing very well without this.

That was a quite fast decay, actually you can't decay without getting sucessful first, ping never had that, but I would never thought it would get to an end so fast.

I never used Ping. I don't have an iTunes account, and even if I did, I've been using Last.fm/friends' recommendations/random YouTube excursions long before that came out, and that has always served me just fine.

Ping is the worst. A terrible idea.

I can see how it would be useful to someone without facebook but why dont you have facebook

Ping always looked like Twitter that was only for musicians and was the exact same posts that those same musicians already posted on their Twitter. Which is why people just stuck with Twitter.

They should just get a Twitter.

It's something Apple tried to do on their own...

...and failed.

Can you explain to me why that's so bad? I've used it a few times and it works really well for me.

It might have worked, but it didn't get the long-term support.

Like Google with Buzz & Wave, they might have worked, but with limited long-term support so they got axed and the enginners moved to different projects.

I meant iOS 6 Maps :laugh3:
