When did The Lounge die?

I feel nothing these days

I am as emotionless as a... a stone. I swear I was going for something philosophical or meaningful there but I completely blew it with that being the first thing to come to mind. Well, I guess a rock is pretty non-feelingsy.

jaded from 2 much drama

Not just the Lounge, the forum. You've probably noticed I haven't been around for a while. I couldn't log in for a while and found I really didn't care. Sad really.

no please dont give up on this forum :(

:(

I firmly believe it was the time when the forum shut down for several weeks that caused the dying of this place.

Damn I wish I'd have taken a screenshot of back then and the daily 949 new posts that were spammed on here, just to proof that this place was a freaking beehive once :sad2:

I've got a stat attack for you guys. This is average est from the data while going through it (past 4 years). The figure is the average amount of users (members logging on) on the forum each day. The peak average is from when the album / major shows happen and the lower interest is the quiet periods we have in between albums and tours.

2010 - Peak average : 1100

2010 - Lower interest average : 550

2011 - Peak average : 1300

2011 - Lower interest average est : 500

2012 - Peak average : 700

2012 - Lower interest average : 600

(Steady year, stadium tour dates spread out probable reason)

2013 - Peak average : 600

2013 - Lower interest average : 300

2014 - Peak average : 650

2014 - Lower interest average : 250

A lot of the posts came from the dozens and dozens of previous posters who had huge post counts. No doubt that the offline period in Feb resulted in the loss of 'attachment' to the forum from high volume posters, obviously you've got the change in admin too after, the template changing, mod changes etc.. that would make this place seem very different than before, some people like it and others don't.

It's hard to compare these things as there isn't another site with a similar amount of users to compare it to. A factor could be the loss or division of interest in Coldplay and one that's definite is social networks and less interest in forums generally, all over the internet. There might be more fans who love Coldplay because of MX/GS/Paradise/ASFOS and the fans who love those Coldplay albums/song the most may use Facebook or Twitter more, while a fan who prefers their earlier stuff and has grown up or is used to chatrooms/forums with the more 'anoymonous'/username edge may not like Coldplay's new material so they may not express any interest.

These things happen but it's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different. If you're expecting the forum to suddenly triple in members and thousands of new posts each day, there's a chance it may never happen, you just don't know, there are so many factors. We've got a good atmosphere going on and most of us are here to talk about the music and tour (when it happens!) so just have fun! It's an internet forum to enjoy and get away from the stresses of life, not add to more on, although it happens, we've all been there and seen the odd troublemaker now and then :P

So either way guys, whatever will be will be :) This is a long term community and if all goes smooth for the band, we'll have at least another 14+ years ahead ;) We'll (mod team) do our part, just keep up the enthusiasm :D

We, the Coldplayers are the lounge, we make it what it is. If you don't chat and hang it's not going to entertain you on it's own. People move on, but it is always nice to come home to the lounge and say hi. It's never really dead, just taking a little nap every now and then.

Yeah, this is a big one. People don't go for forums these days when Facebook is more convenient.
