I think this song is going to be in LP7 but not with the same lyrics of course

I hope they do something like 'Closer to Home' as well....

....ahhhhh who am I kidding it's gonna be brilliant and I just want it NOW...now now now now now now now now now....[emoji93]

Very nice song. Some "Green Eyes" reminiscences to me... :)

That's because the recording of X&Y happened TEN years ago and Chris got old, and so his vocal chords.

Yes but even in the Mylo Xyloto his voice like in X&Y and another albums.. The same voice... Just in Ghosts storing his voice changed...

Great to hear something fresh from Coldplay, (and did this song remind anyone of a Beatles song btw, esp. the first line ? For me, it did !) but you know what I don't like about this song ?

- Chris's voice, to my ears as irritating as in Ghost Stories and parts of MX. Where did the clarity and beauty go to ? Thought a singer's voice might change when he gets to his fifties or something, but not so much between 31 (VLVODAAHF) and 37/38 (GS and this)...? I wonder if his vocal chords have been too strained and are now damaged for good.

- Until GS, Coldplay had great, great melodies in their songs - think of the ones of X&Y or VLVODAAHF, for example ! Now most of the songs just seem to "float" on without a strong melody, and this one, again, is no exception. Though hope remains that they'll keep better melodies for LP7.

I know this is just a personal song for somebody and not an album song etc., but still....when i hear GS, Miracles and then this new stuff I can't help the feeling that Coldplay as we used to know them are gone forever.

(What I do like very much though: real drums, and there's a Parachutes-like vibe to the song, yeah :parachutes:)

In my opinion, chris's voice hasn't changed at all. The lyrics certainly have though.

The lyrics certainly have though.

to the worse I think :<

They need more complex lyrics about life like they did with x&y. Sure the lyrics are weird, but they make me happy.

We probably shouldn't be judging Chris's musical abilities based on a joke-y song that was likely recorded in half an hour though?

Chris is an amazing performer and lyricist [emoji3][emoji106]

Also this song was written specially for this I think so that's why it doesn't have a melody (?)

reasonable people are not welcomed here!

What a song! :dazzled:

Man, if that's what they come up with now for a simple goodbye song, I can't wait to hear LP7! :awesome:

Whether it's an old tune that was just hiding there at the bottom of a box in the Bakery/deep in the abysses of a hard drive, or completely new material, this just reminds us how brilliant Coldplay are at ballads. They just get it, you know? :wacky:
