Politikian
http://www.thenational.ae/arts-lifestyle/from-holly-to-bolly/one-direction-to-bow-out-at-superbowl What do you guys think of this? Could Coldplay be performing with 1D and Bruno Mars??? I highly doubt it, but it would be cool. I thought they usually only have one performer at the Super Bowl, though. AMDB9
I said this on another thread..... I hope they don't because that would just further the impression that Coldplay are a bigger-than-life pop band.
Christa42
I love American football but I say NOPE
I ran away
Actually I hope not, this spells commercial, larger-than-life pop as someone posted above, and superficial. A Set Full Of Hits. But I believe if the guys were made an appropriate offer, they would certainly do it.

jc90
Looks like the Foo Fighters are also favoured. I'd prefer them for this kind of show
MosesTheMarshmallow
Recent Super Bowl artists who were are totally legit: U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones...doesn't seem that ridiculous in principle besides the NFL being an exploitative and profiteering business.
The Adversary
Also it's all mimed/lip-synced as per NFL policy. So it wouldn't be Coldplay performing per-se, rather somebody pressing play on a iPod playlist hooked up to a PA system :P
Lukestar1991
I'm afraid whether we like it or not, that's what they have become.

Lukestar1991
I know, :( :( :( Also, I know they put a lot into their shows but I really feel as though the level of musicianship has wavered in recent years. They'll probably keep going in the opposite direction, which is a shame because it makes them seem as though they're resting on their laurels. Politikian
I'm afraid whether we like it or not, that's what they have become. It's true. Not that I don't still appreciate their music, but I would love more than anything to hear another Parachutes or X&Y or Rush of Blood to the Head. It's sad, but that's how the music industry is. And now that they are this way, I don't think the industry would ever let them go back, just because they wouldn't sell as many albums.
Batman
Hopefully they won't whore themselves out for that. Fucking nasty ass commercial crap that is.

Fucking nasty ass commercial crap that is. Agree with both of you. You can't just blame it on the industry though; clearly, the guys themselves love what they are doing at the moment. Trust me, if they wanted to turn back they could. It's COLDPLAY after all, not a random tiny band depending on their label. The (bitter) truth is, they don't want to turn back.
