How it works the front of stages?

Can you also go out for something to eat or drink and toilet and later come back?

I'm really unsure about all that kind of stuff as well, I've never been to a concert in my life...

I guess it would be the best idea to go to the toilet during the opening act...

I also don't know what the difference between FOS1 and FOS2 is, the price is the same I think.

I've only been to one stadium show before but i think they had a food and drink stand within the FOS area and you could also get a wristband that allowed you to leave and enter again.

A good advice is to keep your drinking to a minimum the whole day (only if the weather and temperatures allow it !!). Again, not quite sure what its like in a stadium but in other venues and especially at coldplay shows you have a hard time getting back to your spot once you left it.

Well, good thing you are going to one now. But be prepared, it's like opening pandoras box, you might get addicted.

From my experience, almost impossible to pull that off in a stadium concert. Like person above said, keep your drinking to the minimum.

so...

whO'S EXCITED?

Still feels like months away. I will only realize it once i'm in my car on the way to the STADIUM, yes finally stadium shows, 50.000 freaking people!

Might sound weird to everyone else but i'm kind of tired of small intimate gigs.

Planning to go to the concert because I see you can still buy tickets, but I will be travelling alone from south netherlands. When the concert is over, do you think it will be possible to catch public transport back to Essen? Since I can't find place to stay in Gelsenkirchen

Yes, the tram from the arena to Gelsenkirchen station goes once every hour - the last is at 0:39 - from there you can get the train to Essen. You can look it up here: www.diebahn.de Put in "Veltins-Arena Gelsenkirchen" as starting point ("von...") and Essen HBF ("nach...") as ending point .

I am looking forward to this concert so much. Coldplay will have a few days rest before Wednesday, so there should be in fine form. My only concern is the venue itself. I really do not like the Veltins-Arena as a concert venue. And I still cannot understand why so many bands from around the world prefer it. Of course, they cannot perform in Duesseldorf or Cologne every time. The roof of the Veltins Arena is always closed during concerts (it is legally forbidden to open the roof, unless it is very hot outside. The weather forecast predicts 20 degress on Wednesday evening, so that is not hot and humid). Given the roof closed I cannot see that the Coldplay show with all the fireworks really can go ahead as in other venues (are there any fireworks at all then?). Let's see. There are definitely better concert venues than Gelsenkirchen. But that is my only concert, otherwise I think it will be a fantastis evening.

Do we know for sure that the roof will be closed or do we need to bring rain proofed clothing just in case?

I'd say proofed clothing since Coldplay likes to use fireworks and they won't work in a closed building.

Infos here in German: http://www.veltins-arena.de/service/fragen-antworten/

It clearly points out: The roof is closed, unless it is hot outside. Even then, an official agreement needs to be arranged with the city of Gelsenkirchen. Maybe, there is a unexpected and welcomed exception for the Coldplay concert. I am not so sure there will be.

Hopefully we will still have some of the fireworks.

I hope they will open the roof and use fireworks... but I can't imagine that they would have chosen this stadium if it would keep them from using the usual fireworks.

You can use fireworks indoors, especially in a stadium. It's just a bit smaller and probably less impressive.

Hey,

the weather for wednesday is bad. heavy storm. :(

Really wonder how the closed roof will work out with the fireworks, since my gig (Amsterdam) will also have a closed roof

Hey,

Maybe having a closed roof isn't that bad after all. I prefer a closed roof over rain or a thunderstorm every day of the week.
