The Snow Patrol Thread

Featured Replies

I'd record for you if I could.

Pretty sure it'll be on youtube or a download on TTB soon as the broadcast finishes tho...

Oh ok, I'll go check out FE at Maida Vale!

I've already heard the studio version after all hehe

Just bought the EP btw so I can play it at work tomorrow, only 2,18€ on amazon.

Sorry you didn't get tickets.

Enjoy your game tomorrow!!!

awww....thanks for the offer anyway, Anna!

but i'm hoping what you said is the case (it usually is, anyway).

press review of Monday night that was posted on TTB which describes the new songs a bit, incl. The Garden Rules. comes complete with cheesy caption "Here We Snow"...

speaking of The Garden Rules, here's a video of it... :)

:O really? i'm surprised, it'd be such a good opener or closer for the album with it's powerfulness.

I'm not surprised about My Brothers really it has a Snow Patrol B-Side feel to it in my opinion.

By the way I signed up to TTB a couple of months ago and they said I had to wait for my account to be authorised. I'm still waiting and was wondering did you have a long wait to start going on the forum or is there something else going on?

agreed. but well, like i said, i'm pretty confused about whether it is going to be on the album or not. i haven't heard an interview where Gary specifically says it won't be on it, but then i don't listen to every single SP interview. think it'd be a shame for it to be left out, unless it really doesn't fit in with the other songs in the album.

as for TTB, i've heard about that approval thing from others. i can't remember if i had to be approved first. but i registered ages ago when they first set up that forum after the problems with the SP.com forum & Sam (the founder of TTB) knew who i am online anyway. thought it might've been recently imposed as one of the Eskimos from SP.com posted the link for Monday's gig in there & specifically asked that it not be re-posted elsewhere so checks were needed. anyway, just my guess about why pre-approval's needed. shouldn't have taken so long tho...did you try contacting the mods?

  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Nice article! Thanks for posting it here.

I've been listening to COITD for about 5 times in a row this morning - dancing to it in my PJs haha

Even FE is growing on me tho I still think it should just be an intro and then become a heavy guitar-driven Muse-like song afterwards. :P

no worries, Anna!

btw, the Soccer AM stuff (SP's little bit anyway...would like to see the whole show tho. heard Gary & Tom arrived fashionably late! haha) is up on the Sky Sports website!

oh & i think nobody's posted this so far, but here's a special treat we got on Monday night: If I'd Found The Right Words To Say played live for the very first time ever! & it's a beauty! :wacky:

i liked the song before, but after Monday, i think i like it even more...specifically played as an acoustic song as they did here.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWUjFU8eVWQ]Snow Patrol - If I'd Found The Right Words To Say - Shepherds Bush Empire 05/09/2011 [/ame]

My best friend in the whole wide world, Natalie, went to Shepherd's Bush and said it was the greatest. Show. Ever.

I have to admit that I, personally, am very very keen on "New York". Gorgeous song.

The BBC did a 'first listen' review where they referred to Fallen Empires as a 'belter of an opener' so I guess it's track 1 on the album. (Link) Sorry if that's already been posted, but I think it shows that Fallen Empires WILL be on the album.

Personally, I like all the songs they've put out for the album so far, they sound a little bit more stripped back but still amazing! My favourite is This Isn't Everything You Are at the moment.

I doubt I'm Ready and My Brothers will be on the album as they are tracks recorded for a movie

no worries, Anna!

I love the acoustic version so so much!!! It was actually the first song i noticed when i saw the setlist then only followed by last friday night

i may be mistaken, but i think that reviewer might have been referring to Fallen Empires the album & not Fallen Empires the track. personally don't think Fallen Empires the track sounds very U2-like aside from the fact that Jonny plays the bongo drum in it (i.e. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight live).

anyway, happen to hear Geoff Lloyd announce on the Hometime Show that Gary's going to be his show guest tomorrow (13 Sep) after 7PM (UK time) on Absolute Radio.

Ooooh great news!!

Fingers crossed somebody will record... they don't have a 'listen again' option and I'll be working when it airs. :disappointed:

there will be a dvd in the deluxe edition of the new album, i'm curious to see the recording sessions with jacknife lee in that beautiful house in malibu!

Yeah, I had a re-read, you might be right... hope they announce the tracklist or release date soon!

I love "This Isn't Everything You Are" ! :D :D

here you go... click here...you know you want to... :sneaky:

anyway, i think i need to make a trip to that Houndstooth pub one day when the lads are around in New York! apparently Gary's been behind the bar pulling pints of beer for ppl depending on how drunk he is...

but overall, i felt this interview gave a bit more insight into the album than the super short ones on TV/radio i've managed to tune into. & Soccer AM was more about football than the album, tbh...the hosts referred to Called Out In The Dark as Calling Out In The Dark  (1st BBC, now Sky Sports...oh, dear. journalism fail! :P)

& i think at some point soon Gary's bound to start getting tired of answering a question about his writer's block at every single interview. i know i would. :dozey:

Really! right i'm going to New York when they're there next just to get a pint from Gary haha

Of course he will but he's far too polite to say anything about it because he's awesome.

Does anyone know when about the album is going to be released? like what week in November if it's still November of course :D

Thank you so much, Kimmi! :botoxlips:

Love his accent and voice so much. :wacky:

Can't wait for them to announce tour dates. :bomb: I hope they'll come to Luxembourg again...

"I was expecting the lyrics to come easier than they did" Awww. I want to hug him hehe

"[Fallen Empires] is a rabid beast of a song" (It really grew on me)

Aww they're talking about the bus drivers!!

When I did the internship at the venue I met some weird and some really really nice bus drivers! Some looked more like rock stars than the actual band members hehe

Anyone knows more about touring dates? If it's Jan + Feb for UK and Ireland... could a European tour be before? Or will it be afterwards?

Thanks again Kimmi, it was nice to listen to this one! :)

Shit! I totally forgot they owned a pub in NY  ! Ahhhhh and I was there last month! :bomb: ....now, I see only one solution...I HAVE TO go back to NY :P

Thx for the link Kimmi!

^^ don't think you're the only one who forgot they have a pub in NYC. Gary seems to have forgotten too! :laugh2:

DJ: "who's looking after the pub?"

gL: "ah heh...the pub...where...?"

can just imagine the look on his face when he was asked that!

think the poor bartenders at that pub are going to have to put up with a lot of ppl ignoring them for Gary whenever he might be there now...haha

think the album's on track for a early Nov release AFAIK...but still no confirmed date. :disappointed:

They'll understand but only until they probably realise how it's affected their tip that night haha.

That's great, if it's the 1st week of the month it'll turn out to be an awesome 7 days. Also what does AFAIK mean?

AFAIK = as far as i know (i.e. me being lazy to type ;) )

can't wait for November & when they start touring next year!

I LOVE the artwork!! And 14 songs :awesome: Just pre-ordered the CD/DVD version  The countdown begins!!

14 songs. Fallen Empires is on the album and is track #6.

Will be the best album with 14 songs this year. ;):P

Agreed! :D

Can't wait for this one! If Mylo is a letdown (which is likely) there is Snow Patrol to save the music year! :D

Can't wait!!! :D it really has made my day and as much as i'm looking forward to MX i'm doubly excited for Fallen Empires. The artwork is so cool as well. I'm pre-ordering mine on Wednesday and can't wait to see them up in Dublin. Ooooooooh i'm so excited :D
