Hopefully I won't have a tall person sitting in front of me.

I heard Peter Crouch had managed to blag himself a front-row seat.

  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

"Just Say Yes" is fast becoming one of my fave SP songs. It's got that "upbeat", anthemic quality I always love!

By the way - I've just been informed my ticket's arrived!!:D

*goes to read all the news* :escaping:

any Distant Echo-ers on?? I Need help!!

btw, have you received your ticket yet? mine still hasn't showed up in the mail & i get the feeling i'm gonna end up getting my order of Up To Now in the mail before the ticket at this rate.

oh dear! does Colston Hall have a camera restriction? :\ cos i was fully intending to bring my trusty P&S camera...even if i'm seated dead centre of the hall.

seated at 2nd row, i'd think you would still be able to see the band fine...Gary himself is a good 6ft+. ;)

No ticket for me yet :(

There isn't really a policy, as security checks are a bit rubbish, if the band hates cameras than you can't use them (unless your sneaky and turn off flash)

i need help myself! on top of needing to focus on counting the origami stars on the A Hundred Million Suns artwork on my copy of the album!

btw, i just realised that the colours of the origami stars are reminiscent of the autumn leaves around me! lovely! :D (side note: no idea why my parents, particularly my mum, thinks that autumn is the most miserable of the 4 seasons in UK! :P)

oh well...at least we both don't have our tickets yet. :(

but then Mark's got his already for the RAH show, which is later...weird.

& that's an actual sneak tactic? haha

i actually don't use flash at shows out of courtesy as it's likely distracting for the performers, but more cos i think there's not much use for flash at concerts, what with all the flashing industrial grade lights and/or lasers if you're up close. if you aren't i don't think that having flash will make any difference.

I find using flash often is useless.

also it gives yourself away.

Whereabouts are you sitting?

Row V Seat 14...which seems to be about dead centre of the stalls based on Floorplan A on the Colston Hall website. was slow on the uptake on getting my ticket...as i usually seem to be with all things Snow Patrol. :P

heh...yeah. at least acoustically it should be nice. :D

& being a small venue, the band shouldn't be ant-sized or 1-inch high tiny, i guess. :)

does anyone have any patience at all to count the number of origami suns on the album artwork? cos it looks like my ADD self doesn't have the attention span to do the count... :P

Kimmi- is this for the pub trivia?? If so, I haven't come across that one yet. Yikes!

Sorry for the double post, but I just found this on the SP forum and thought it could be cool to follow...

Bath-based songstress/multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Crook, has been invited to join Snow Patrol on tour. And you can follow her experience of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle via her very own blog.

Jennifer, who has worked with a variety of acclaimed acts as well as being a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Tradition Award in 1993, will be helping the lads out with vocals and on the harp.

Here's the blog link:

The 'Reworked' Tour will run through November & December

oh, and one more tidbit from the SP forum... here's a link to a nice little interview with Nathan:

I just cut out a lot of stars on Friday to make a collage in Photoshop. But didn't count them. I just know I used around 200 of them, but ... I copied some and left some others out.

unfortunately, this IS 1 of the questions for the pub quiz... :\

actually, what are the Distant Echo-ers' answer for the question about what's on the billboard at the start of the Signal Fire video? i think it says "Tonight Spider Man presented by 2C" but the videos i watched weren't very clear, so i'm not sure...i'm only sure (reassured, rather) that it's a great song even with the Spiderman association.

well done, Bianca!!! :D

i've only ever tried cutting 1 of the origami stars on Photoshop. i personally don't think i can make it thru 200 tho...

I was just perusing through some SP news and came upon a quote of Gary saying that "nothing sells in America unless its really poppy" - basically saying that the "tired pony" and new SP stuff doesn't even stand a chance here! Brandon Flowers (The Killers) says that stuff all the time too (remember he said if it wasn't Kurt Cobain, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, or Beyonce then Americans won't buy it!).

I know SP isn't huge here, but are they more popular abroad? I don't share that opinion about music in America at all though! anyone else agree?

he's an Irishman trying to do American country music with the Tired Pony band...if the album does well in America, i'd say that's an achievement already! ;)

the Malaysian & Singaporean music scene is very American-centric also & i can confidently say Snow Patrol aren't that big in Asia, beyond maybe Japan. the radio airplay trend tends to mirror what's popular in America over what's popular in UK.

generally, i'd say the heydays of UK bands was in the 90s when Britpop was ruling the airwaves...before Coldplay & Snow Patrol came along. then the radio stations started drifting away from rock music in general & i think it's pretty entrenched in teen/cheesy pop, R&B pop, hip hop music now unless it's a song by a big band like U2 or Bon Jovi. & mostly it's the American rock groups that get played on the radios in Malaysia or Singapore anyway.

& so far, the general reaction i have from my fellow Malaysians when i mention Snow Patrol is either a blank stare or they'll tell me "oh, i don't really like their songs" or "oh, i think the only good song they have is Chasing Cars" (& high chance that that's the only Snow Patrol song that any Malaysians actually know...aka "the Grey's Anatomy song" with a select few knowing of Run).

Coldplay at least gets a generally more positive reaction...either that or "i always feel like falling asleep when their songs are played on the radio" (which at least i have not heard being mentioned in relation to Snow Patrol...yet)

hip hoppy and © rappy is probably more like it :dozey::rolleyes: with some awful junk rolled in there too! hahah - good call

ohhh kim that's really interesting about the radio airplay in Malaysia & Singapore! are you getting too much Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift and an overload of Beyonce too then? :dozey: I guess the Grey's Anatomy is useful in promoting good music all around then - maybe i should take it off of my threatdown list!

^ this song sounds really likable but not really countryish (at least in the way I know it)?

Im listening to Up To Now... :D :D :D Its really great. Love new songs and Run live... :)

:bigcry:

It will be released on 20th November here. :dead:

ARGH!

I'm getting the album for Christmas as I'm totally broke right now. I really dont want to wait but I guess I'll have to :(

:bigcry:

ARGH!

Oh it wont be here at all... Maybe next year. But I downloaded it from iTunes.

Good evening! :nice:

I haven't been in here for quite some time and I can't believe it's only 2 weeks until the RAH concert... :shocked2:

At the moment I'm in a non-SP-phase. Doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the concert though!

They're great live but I said it before that I'm not so much a fan of the albums after having heard the songs live. :embarassed:

It's a pity that you can't get the DVD separately.

Most ppl buying this have the older songs anyways I guess...

I'll probably order it some time later... maybe I feel more like it after the concert

To end this negative post (sorry!!) I would've loved if there was a live version of "Shut your eyes" on the CD and not only on the DVD...

I'm so much into Live albums these days!!

(HAARP and a Muse radio concert on repeat, Killers and KOL live DVDs on the way to me )

I really like "Just say Yes"!!

Hey everyone!

I can't hang out today, but just saw this on the SP board... Gary's got a new post up regarding the Reworked Tour and I thought those of you who've got a show coming up would be interested....

guesting game

Hello all. I hope you’re very well.

We’ve been in the rehearsal room in London the whole week rehearsing for the Reworked tour. Things are going very well. Sounding great. Just a few wee details I wanted you all to be aware of. Firstly we are mainly reworking the songs we’ve been playing live for the last few years and that most of you will be most familiar with so it gives you all a new look at some much played songs. We figured when it comes to songs we’ve never played live before (of which there are going to be many on this tour) you’d rather hear them in their original form or close to it so we’ve not tinkered too much with them. Neither are we bringing a support act with us this time. Rather we will be doing two different sets the first set starting at eight o’clock, so get there early.

The other thing is that we did advertise we would have special guest singers. Well, this (crazy) time of year a lot of our musical pals are unfortunately busy with touring so they cannot join us. It’s a shame but I doubt any of you bought the ticket for this reason. Safe to say in the cities we have lived or currently live in we have some fantastic guests lined up but I’m sorry to say outside of Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, London and Manchester it’s unlikely we’ll have guest starring singers. I hope you’ll all understand and really the spirit of the thing is that we look freshly at the back catalogue more than anything else. There are of course loads of guests actually in the main band (sixteen in all in the band) already and they are all fabulous. There are also many songs on the set list that you guys have been asking us to play for a long time and I hope these will be treat enough.

Can’t wait to get out on this tour as it’s breathed new life and love into songs we’ve been playing for years. we’re excited for you guys to hear what we’ve done to them. Gary.

PS I heard from someone that there was a rumour going round that has got back to us that Bono is guesting with us on the tour. Ha. If only.xx
