  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

thanks for posting that jen :) - i wish we could see this reworked tour - so jealous of all these lucky people. can't wait to see the vids on youtube. I hope people are planning on taking some! :) :D;)

Sue - i agree I wish that the DVD could be sold separately. We can't even get the new songs - other than "Just Say Yes" separately! :dozey::rolleyes:

ohhh kim that's really interesting about the radio airplay in Malaysia & Singapore! are you getting too much Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift and an overload of Beyonce too then? :dozey: I guess the Grey's Anatomy is useful in promoting good music all around then - maybe i should take it off of my threatdown list!

yes, i lost count of the number of times i had to put up with Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb' being played when i was back in Malaysia. in Singapore i just tuned into Absolute Radio UK's internet streaming.

i do enjoy a bit of catchy old pop or hippy hoppy stuff every now & then...& i'll take Madonna, Justin Timberlake & Beyonce over the Disney brigade anytime...but i just don't fancy listening to just pop, R&B, hip hop all day everywhere i go. :P

& i agree with you, that Tired Pony track doesn't really sound as country as i'd have imagined a country song should be. but i do like it...& that's considering that i generally don't have much of a liking for country music.

@jenflor : as usual, you are the bearer of "Gary news" from the SP.com forum for me! haha i guess i need to check in there more often...

& his blog post seems to be implying Bristol's gonna get 2hrs+(ish) of just Snow Patrol from 8PM.....................which i don't mind at all!!! :smug:

bring it on, guys!!!  :wink3:

The Reworked Tour sounds amazing! I'm wondering what older songs they'll be re-introducing. Maybe even some pre-Final Straw stuff.

Regardless, I'm envious of those of you who can go!

Of course some pre-Final Straw songs! I'd guess the songs they put on Up To Now from the first two albums for sure. Maybe some others as well ...?

I don't know if it's true and going to happen but I think I remember having read somewhere that they record one or two gigs of the Reworked Tour. So maybe a live thingy from there? :cheesy: (I don't expect a live CD or DVD though as we only got one. :P)

"Olive Grove"?

Bad new, Polar Teddies. :\

Snow Patrol to Duet With Cheryl Cole at BBC Charity Gig

That Snow Patrol are taking part in the BBC's Children in Need -- the UK's biggest charity event -- is no secret. Who they are performing a duet with on Thursday night's concert, however, has been. Until now.

The band's frontman Gary Lightbody (pictured) tells Spinner that apart from playing 'Chasing Cars', backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the band will be performing 'Set the Fire to the Third Bar,' a 2006 track originally recorded with Martha Wainwright.

No Ms Wainwright on show at London's Royal Albert Hall, however. This time, they will be joined by Girls Aloud and solo star Cheryl Cole.

Speaking to spinner at a south London rehearsal studio where the band are practising for a forthcoming tour, he says: "Wednesday we have to stop to rehearse with the lovely Cheryl Cole for the Children in Need gig the night after. Because everyone doing that gig has to duet with someone from the gig. Everyone gets a partner, it was like getting a partner at school. We got the prettiest girl in the class."

Lightbody says, "They've very kindly given us two songs, not everyone's been given two songs. We get to do 'Chasing Cars' with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. And they're also let us play 'Set the Fire to the Third Bar' with Cheryl, which will be an interesting one because it was written for Martha Wainwright a very different and darker and unusual singer."

Cole, who topped the UK charts last week with her first solo album, is an unusual choice, Lightbody admits. "People have raised an eyebrow now and again when we've mentioned we're doing it with Cheryl Cole but I think it's going to be a really interesting experience.

"She said 'What song do you want to do?' and we said that ['Set the Fire to the Third Bar'}, and she went away and listened to it. I think she'd only heard a couple of our singles. She got back straight away and said, 'Yeah, I'm up for it.' Hats off to her. "

Other acts taking part in the charity gig include Muse, Take That, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey and Dizzee Rascal.

 Baaaaad news. Seriously, first they ruined a Coldplay gig and now a Snow Patrol set? What's next?!

On the other hand I'm really looking forward to the 'Chasing Cars meets Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' version. :D

And I find this quote sweet :wacky: :

Everyone gets a partner, it was like getting a partner at school. We got the prettiest girl in the class.

By the way, this site seems to have only one photo of Gary. And an older one as well.

You mean we're going to have to endure them again??:stunned:

No need to get there early, then.:dozey:

According to the article they only play two songs. Chasing Cars together with the orchestra and Set Fire To The Third Bar with Cheryl. So - where's Girls Aloud anyway?

I'm confused.

Maybe we are lucky enough and that article is wrong. :D

Let's hope so. Are you going?

No, I'm not. Don't know whether I should myself 'unlucky' or 'lucky' then. :rolleyes2:

But I'm definetely watching the video as soon as it is up on YouTube. :smug: So I can skip GA if they join them indeed.

You are going, right?

Yup!!:D

At least you see the positive site of all that: the boys. :D

Well, I listened to Dark Roman Wine today for the first time. I gave it to me as a present (because of all the examinations recently) and I love it. :nice:

I'm excited to hear Give Me Strenght on Friday (my next present :D).

Up To Now is now available in the U.S.! I just plucked "Give Me Strength" and "Dark Roman Wine" off iTunes and gave 'em a listen. I'm really liking GMS, but I'm a little iffy on DRW.

I think it's funny (and a little cute) how "Give Me Strength" is about the other boys in the band.

Don't spoil me!! :dead:

Cheryl Cole is doing the charity gig as a solo performance, so I doubt you'll see the rest of Girls Aloud there ;)

I'm not sure about her replacing Martha Wainwright though, her voice is very different...

Hmmmm.

i saw on the SP.com forum that apparently the Bradley Quinn lithograph packaged in the box sets are different. but i quite like the one i got anyway...even if it seems like the guys are going for the moody rocker look in the shot. 'cept for the fact that the envelope it was sealed in was sealed so tight that i was worried i'd end up ripping the flap!

& i just love how the book's done up like a (B&W) scrapbook of their 15yr career + photos from gigs!!!:heart::heart:

so here's some shots i took of the pages to share with you Polar Teddies...enjoy! :D
