Violet
BUMP. I'm probably the only one who watches this show, but last night, on "The Voice," M5 premiered a new single called "Moves Like Jagger," and it features Christina Aguilera. Here's the live world premiere: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMvThvbcp8w]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMvThvbcp8w[/ame] This is the studio version of the single, which can now be bought on iTunes: [ame= ] [/ame]

Prospector
Their debut album is really good, the second is great, the third was really bad with it's fomulaic songs, but this is ridiculous, they went from great pop songs to rubish: EDIT: 17/05/2012: The video I had put was taken of, so I'll just put te official here now :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlQSQuv_mg]Maroon 5 - Payphone (Lyric Video) ft. RazorEye
I personally think payphone is their best song so far.
musicalfrogbricks
Payphone is pretty good (better than Moves like Jagger, IMO), but I think She Will be Loved and This Love are both pretty good. I'm not really a big fan of Maroon 5 in the first place, though.

Prospector
^ I was going to answer, but yeah, it's pretty much that. The song is annoying pop shit. (Not every pop song is bad, just this one is one of the worst this year)

Violet
I'm bumping this thread for the sake of my own sanity. I have to talk about "Overexposed." I've listened to it a few times now. It is the worst album Maroon 5 has released, and it is by far my biggest disappointment of the year. When I first listened to this album, I was crushed. One of my friends had told me that he heard this was THE ultimate sell-out album. It sure seems that way to me. I know the boys said this would be their poppiest album yet. That's not my problem. My problem is that it's not good pop. Their other albums sounded like Maroon 5. To paraphrase the words of one of the critics who reviewed this album, Maroon 5 don't even really sound like a band. They also said this was a very diverse album. Really? Where, pray tell, is it? All I hear is a collection of uninspired, insipid dance anthems. "Ladykiller" doesn't have the drive to live up to its name. "Fortune Teller" has anything but fortune in it. Don't even get me started on the second single, "One More Night." ("I be wakin' up?" Really, Adam?) Some of this album doesn't even sound like them. M5 collaborated with Ryan Tedder on some of the songs, and it's obvious. A couple of tracks have sections that sounds like something Cascada would put out. I imagine "One More Night" is much more fitting to Rihanna. There are, however, glimmers of hope that not all is lost. Despite its intro, "Doin' Dirt" is catchy enough. The halftime section before the last chorus of "Lucky Strike" is one of my favorite parts of the entire album. "Sad" is one of the simplest, yet most beautiful songs they've done. Really, it's this stuff that annoys me; they have so much potential, and yet they waste it on something that sounds so plastic. Oddly enough, this album was supposed to reflect a contrast to the plastic, manufactured world we live in, where fame overrules the true organics of what music is. How can you say that, Adam? How can you say that when you've made an album like THIS? TL;DR: I feel as let down about this as (if not more than) some of the CPers felt when Coldplay released MX, and part of my soul is broken. alejolo
I have never really listened any of Maroon 5 albums ( I've only heard the singles and stuff) And I quite liked the album :) . I mean , it's completely different from before and completely get why people say they've sell out ( specially since Mooves like jagger was massive , they followed that). Payphone it's one of my fave songs this year + there are other songs like Sad or Lucky strike Doin dirt that are quite good. Truth is that it's a great workout album :laugh3: + It sounds more like an Adam album more than a Maroon 5 album

I mean , it's completely different from before and completely get why people say they've sell out ( specially since Mooves like jagger was massive , they followed that). If the first statement is true, then the second is false. You can't understand how different the albums are when you haven't listened to the back catalogue. You also can't understand how I feel, given our different experiences with the band. You've listened to their singles. I have followed the band religiously since high school. "Songs About Jane" was the first album I ever bought for myself. How, then, can you say that you relate? (As a side note, "Moves Like Jagger" has nothing to do with it, given that I actually like that song.) It sounds more like an Adam album more than a Maroon 5 album That's exactly part of why I have such an issue with this record. If you label something as Maroon 5, it should at least sound something like Maroon 5. If Adam Levine wants to do solo work, then go do a solo album. Don't bring your soloistic ambitions into your band work.
