Michae Moore's Work

Featured Replies

Im currently doing a little project on this mans work, I'll post some (rather extreme, well documented) opinions a little later.

Anyone have any opinions on him? Especially his work on Bowling for Columbine (Which Im studying a lot).

Nobody, has ANYTHING to say of this guy? Absolutely nothing?

Ive done so much research!

why is it that he's so against america? or that he shows all the negative things about them?

HELLO

Well, youre kinda right, and kinda wrong.

He's very against the current state of America, but he (Apparently) is trying to make differences where possible in improving it. He shows the negative parts of America to mock and exploit them, if youre considering the media anyway. He does portray the idiocy behind the American media very well, and how the media is a source of wrongful propaganda.

I dont blaim him for being against America.

neither do I...they need to be taken down a couple of notches...

I heard that he's coming out with a new movie where he goes around the world and asks other countries their opinions of america...

I haven't read any of his books or seen "Bowling for Columbine" (would love to see it, too). I was quite impressed of him when he dared to shout "Shame on you, Mr Bush" at the Academy Awards of last year I think. You hear of so many people/celebrities being against Bush, then he/the government threaten them with something and wooooosh they totally change their opinion, take things back etc. And Michael Moore didn't. So yeah, that was quite impressive.

After a while, though, I thought he was kinda "overdoing" it. Not the criticising part, but... hmmm *tries to explain* Suddenly, he published one book after another explaining how stupid the USA and the citizens are. So after a while it looked like he only was in it for the money, but that's just an impression.

I read an interview with Marilyn Manson about 1 or 2 years ago. He talked a lot about "Bowling for Columbine" cos he's in it, apparently. I'm not really a Manson fan, but I was really struck by all the intelligent things he said. Not that I thought he was stupid, but it's weird how somebody's music or outward appearance can make you think he is a certain type of person, e.g. a shock rocker through and through.

Okay, I'm running out of words now.. what was the topic again?

Michael Moore's a fucking idiot, by the way.

Maybe it requires balls for him to have said that at the Awards, but to be honest, I just see it as people expect him to do it, its his gimmick. I do think he's over-doing it, and Stupid White Men was a big pile of bullshit.

But yes, Marilyn Manson is the modern day Alice Cooper. Looks nuts, and is incredibly smart (But Alice Cooper has to be way smarter).

I've read "Stupid White Men" and part of "Dude, where's my country?". I saw Bowling for Columbine and at first thought it was fantastic, but now when i watch it, i'm not that impressed.

In one of my classes we had this huge debate on whether or not Michael Moore was being fair to his subjects when trying to get his point across...many of the people basically thought he was an asshole and wasn't fair.

Good for them. He shouldnt have won that Oscar because what he did was not a documentary, it was deceitful and distorted the truth so far beyond real-life that this was totally fiction.

Yeah. That's what people thought. They said that his work and the way he presented it was incredibly biased.

He's not a journalist, is he?

all i can say is "rawk on" finally someone has gotten an oscar for bashing the fucky gov't. amen to that. i love his documents. but some of it is propoganda. but only some.

Amanda makes a clear point, I like what Michael Moore represents. There are zero people doing what hes doing (Which is gaining recognition for mocking the government at a world wide level) hes mainstream for holding the government to account for its actions. That, I really appreciate.

If only it was someone who could do a better job at it. I could do a better job, seriously (In UK politics, Im not familiar enough with American politics), because there are enough flaws in the governmental system to be able to criticise it without bending the rules of truth.

For what Michael Moore mocks, the governments caniving, twisting and distorting, he is such a hypocrite. For this kind of role, someone cannot contradict themself just as much as the government.

If he was a lot clearer and correct, he'd not only be more respected but also a much bigger pain in the ass of the government, impossible to simply ignore.

i think he uses his decietfulness to kind of make people more interested in what really is going thus leading them to research the current problems and thus finding that the government is full of shit.

When I read you what you say, all through thsi topic, I get the idea that you haven't got a defined like "side". You don't "sound" me consistant to me, and it's like..... not trustable/credible.... maybe that's just me though :/

as in his opinion fluctuates? no i dont think it does.

I'll make it crystal clear-

I like what Michael Moore's aims and objectives are, but the documentaries, books and general methods he uses is mainly bullshit. I hate him as a person, but I like what he represents.

To make it clearer- I would love it if someone more respectable and intelligent were in the shoes of Michael Moore right now.

Even clearer- I personally hate Michael Moore, full stop.

Manson is very smart, hes highly intelligent.

In Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore was asking guys what they woulda said to some kid who shot a bunch of classmates nearing graduation.

People said some different stuff, the creator of South Park said something like "I'd tell him that just because its the end of graduation doesnt mean life ends after high school, if youre grades are screwed it means nothing in the end." They had some helpful advice but-

Manson, right off the bat- "I wouldnt say anything I'd sit and listen to the kid because obviously no-one else did."

He has a great mind.

awww that is crystal clear. he is a liar but he only lies to get a point across.

i think manson appears that way because he's done drugs, he's a musician, artist, all that stuff. of course he thinks differently than everyone else.

Micheal Moore is really nice!!

I haven´t seen his documentary yet, but I hope to see it.

I bought his new book, but I haven´t started to read yet ( I´m reading a book for school...boring, by the way :snore: )

But I expect to know more about Micheal Moore!!

Yeah!! NO BUSH!! :D

Go Kerry!!
