ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Featured Replies

Perhaps i am the only person in the world who hates this film. I swear it is one of the most boring and pointless movies ever made-nothing happens, monotonous, much too long. And I can go like this forever:sleeping:

i really liked it but i think people give it way more praise than it deserves. then again i havent watched it in so long. i'll watch it again and maybe i'll feel differently. that happens often with me and movies.

this is why i would watch it again only with a gun to my head

It's not a lie, it's a fantasy.

^ yea exactly.. like most movies are Will.

and it had a great message at the end. :nice:

no no i dont mean that kind of a lie.. i mean a lie as in the message it delivers, you cant escape love? pfff bullshit

yea but at the end it shows that erasing someone isnt gonna help.. and the fact that you had really good memories with the other person makes it even more difficult to go along with the procedure, which isnt real to begin with.

I don't think the message is that you can't escape love at all. I think it's more that if you don't learn from your mistakes, you're going to end up repeating them, and that no matter how painful mistakes can be, they are an important part of who you are.

It's classic old fashioned scifi, really. It presents a "what if" question (what if you could erase painful memories? would it be a good thing? Would your life be better?), invents fictional science that can answer that question, and shows the results- usually forcing the reader or viewer to come to terms with some of the ways that it can go wrong.

I like it because it reminds me that even the bad things in my life have a reason for existing; that they're worth something.

One of my all-time favorite movies.

i can watch this movie repeatedly without getting bored:)

Just remember, hype will always lead to dissapointment. Don't say I didn't warn you.

All the same, you totally should see it. :D

The acting is impeccable, the direction is beautiful, the soundtrack is wonderful, and it leaves me feeling hopeful when I've finished watching it. Um, I personally cannot ask for much more from a film.
