The biggest trade block in the world now' date=' bigger than NAFTA...containing 25 european countries (approx 480 million people) who are free to trade and live and work in the other 24 countries with no visas, tariffs, taxes imposed on any of it.[/quote']

except that the people from the newest 10 countries added to the list won't be able to travel to the old (western) european countries for 7 more years. well, they can still travel, but not freely...they will still need work permits and those are hard to come by.

i heard they had big celebrations in poland (it being the biggest of the 10 countries to join) and also in the czech republic....the Budweiser beer company over there are overjoyed 'cuz now their name will be protected in all of EU and so they can fight the American Anheuser-Busch who have been using the name Budweiser for the best-selling beer for a long time now... :s

I guess this will mean more trade spats with these two gorillas! lol... ie, between the US and EU.

:D yeah i know it's mis-spelled...i purposefully mis-spelled it.

this is afterall an internet forum :D :P

Actually you're not entirely right there..in France and Germany the 7 year rule exists, in UK the new 10 EU members can come today and work, infact Poles already are, was an article about it in todays paper...so my point about them coming to get my job..is true :)

We are in the European Union!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!!

It was seriously mental over here on Saturday! :dizzy2: :stunned:

seen those riots, police using water cannons thats real bad. !

Yeah :o good thing I wasn't in the city :dizzy2: It was mental all over dublin though and in all the surrounding counties :/

I gonna try your new quiz. Nowt like that would happen over here, they control the people by making and getting them into debt.

i don't even understand why Ireland was the hosting country because we're probably the smallest country in the EU! :dizzy2:

So, a couple years down the line, are you still happy your in the EU?

Or are you like Britain and want out?

I like being in EU but i don't like the fact that everything's more expensive as it used to be - because we have euro now (since jan 07). otherwise i think its unfair that countries like GB can keep its own money; things don't seem to be really fair for everyone. just my thoughts, i guess.

i wish my country was in the eu, its quite helpful if you wanna live in an eu country.

Is Liverpool counted as an independent country now?

switzerland.

we dont need a visa but some colleges and unis make you pay oversea fees and its quite hard to get a student loan in the uk as a swiss citizen.
