Sigur Ros moved up to my second favorite band behind Radiohead today. Just thought you guys might want to know that. :D

its a cello bow. Its harder than it looks though, me and my R.A. tried working it out with his guitar and his sister's bow. The sound is awesome, but its tricky to control.

hmm... i always thought it would be interesting to try and get those sounds that people like Jonsi and Jimmy Page were able to.

 

Why is it hard to control?

Well, a bow isn't really made to be used on guitar strings, so it takes some time to get a consistent, droney sound out of all the friction. Works much better on gibson's obviously.

Yeah, Cello bows are the best.

You have to put a lot of that Rosin or whatever stuff on the bow so it can actually grip the strings.

 

I've used my brother's violin bow a couple of times but it doesn't work too well

I haven't listened to Von yet. I have it on cd, but haven't had a chance to listen to it

I haven't listened to Von that much, but I can't get into it either. It's just so.. weird. :D I do like the Hvarf/Heim versions of the song Von though (especially the Heim one :awesome:).
