Pitchfork also rated my favourite album X&Y really badly, I don't care about them...

As you know all these things are very subjective, but say what you will - I've watched countless concerts on YouTube (although it's not as good as being there, obviously) and still the concerts of the X&Y (and AROBTTH...) Era like Glastonbury 2005 are my favourites :)

Well I can confirm being in love is like a drug. It makes you feel high indeed when you experience it, but at the same time it clouds your vision and ability to think, and then of course, withdrawal hurts just as badly ;) Life on the other hand, if life were a drink, it would have to be something like lemon juice mixed with a little bit of sugar. Cause life is bittersweet.

Well as someone who loves the X&Y songs and their sound I naturally would have preferred going to the Twisted Logic Tour. I also liked the equality sign and outfits of that Era. I feel they were big at that time, but not too big - for some reason these huuuge stadium shows don't have as much appeal to me. I think they were the right size during AROBTTH and X&Y.

My division would look similar to valypan's: Parachutes, AROBTTH, X&Y - Oldplay/classic Coldplay VLVODAAHF - Transition MS, GS, AHFOD - Newplay :D

Yeah, thats true. Also, whether or not I like a song depends A LOT on the melody for me (I know other people for whom it is not as important, but for me it is) and it's one of the reasons I love Coldplay and not another band - they have come up with so many timeless and great melodies ! I feel their melodies have been on the decline though in the past few years.

@Jaytheblue : From Germany You got a funny conversation there :) The X&Y lyrics resonated strongly with me during a particular phase of my life. In fact, still do. Also I am of a melancholic nature so the early EPs and Parachutes/AROBTTH resonate with me a lot.

One day, Chris went to fetch the mail and tore open an envelope adressed to him - and his heart started beating faster when he read that it was from University College London and he had been admitted to it !

Hope you can record them one day ! And yeah, 99% of songs is about love nowadays... one of the reasons I liked old Coldplay, because they were focussing a lot on themes like insecurity, doubts, regrets, and the general melancholy inherent in life, too.

GS was too electronic for my liking. My fav track from GS was Ghost Story because it sounded like it could have come from the Parachutes Era. It's not necessarily about quiet tracks - for isntance, I love Crests of Waves and VLV which are both upbeat songs but somehow I feel something is missing from their later work.

Why not write an album about it ? :D

I actually love the early EPs and the first three albums. AROBTTH and X&Y are my favorites. And I agree with you that I have a feeling this atmosphere is never gonna come back, they are far too secure and happy with their lifes :)

I was joking when I called it blasphemy, although as a huge fan of the first three albums I have to say that none of the new songs are as good as the best old songs. However, for example I would listen to Birds and Fun over Swallowed In The Sea or High Speed all the time, so it depends.

Well I wish you good luck then !! I'm also in the US at the moment, but for very different reasons. Coincidentally I also have a crush on someone who I wish will be future boyfriend by Christmas '16, but who knows if this will ever happen :rolleyes:
