  1. I voted for Trouble, since it has this simple melody and yet evokes so powerful emotions in me. I relate to it with respect to a certain person who I appreciate very much but also hurt, and who is unfortunately ignorant of this appreciation.
  2. Thanks Coeurli, great read even though it is just one interpretation, of course (but a sensible one) !
  3. I am currently often subjected to mainstream radio music, and every time this happens I wonder how truly shitty it has become (imho got a lot worse during the past years), and how truly blessed I can call myself to know Coldplay's earlier works, as opposed to the new kids who only know the Coldplay of ASFOS.
  4. I see. Actually I prefer the album version of Spies to the alternative one, but I agree that For you and many other songs from the Parachutes Era are great. Well it seems we have a different opinion on what makes a good melody, hence our different perceptions of MX and GS ;-)
  5. When you purposefully steer conversation in the direction of music tastes only so that you can say you are a Coldplay fan :smug:

A A: They spun a web for me, they spun a web for me, they spun a web for me... B: You see no meaning to your life...you should try!
  7. Happy Birthday Parachutes! :parachutes: I wish you'd never have changed so much...but after all, we do change, don't weeeeeeee? And still we awake to see that no one is free... They spun a web for me, they spun a web for you, they spun a web for us...
  8. I agree that all your friends and oceans have a bit of an Oldplay-ish vibe to them, but don't reach up to the great melodies of Oldplay. By the way, I do like Parachutes as a whole but clearly, it was not yet their best in terms of melodies. As for Always in my Head, this is imho exactly one of these songs that have no clear, powerful melody, but rather float for some minutes, going nowhere. I hope you understand what i mean. I'm not saying this is generally a bad thing; it's just the way this song is. Some people like it, I don't. On the other hand I do like Chinese Sleep Chant, which has no strong melody either yet to me comes across much more powerful in its instrumentation and vibe than AIMH. By the way, Your Love Means Everything is not Coldplay, it is Faultline feat. Chris Martin.

A A: I awake to see that no one is free. B: They're calling you some kind of ghost, but I know that's not true.
  10. I hope they return to creating good melodies. For me, Coldplayness is also having amazing, memorable and powerful melodies - think of Trouble, Clocks, Speed of Sound, White Shadows, Politik, In My Place, A rush of blood to the head, What If, Viva La Vida, Lost, and many more ! MX still had a few interesting melodies, and GS imho had none with the exception of Ghost Story....I hope this downward trend can be reversed, at least to a certain extent.
  11. When you have an extremely bad-quality version of "A view from the top", where you can hardly make out the vocals, on repeat while studying, because you just love it so much.
  12. Hahaha, me too !!
  13. Clocks was in the promotional video, so I think chances are high it will be played...?
  14. Well, you have to sign up at the Global Citizen page, promote their content vi Twitter, petitions, emails, calls etc. and only then can you enter the draw for the free tickets. Selling tickets is prohibited, so I guess either you're lucky or you aren't.
  15. Whatever the first single is, I hope it won't be bland. On another note....OMG, I just realized I will be in Boston in September, and the concert is in NY! If I could make it to NY on this day, this would probably be my one and only chance to see Coldplay live !! I don't think I would get a ticket though :-(
  16. The goldrush ?
  17. Something like Politik would be great ;-)
  18. And the INvictus anthem you mentioned was written by Chris for the Invictus Games...
  19. OK, here's another one then: The scene in Les Miserables (it really doesn't matter which film version !!!) where Jean Valjean first meets Cosette in the dark woods.
  20. I'll try: Do you know how it ends...
  21. Nope Have you ever read a textbook from the "first line of the first page to the end of the last page) ?
  22. Amsterdam 2 Don't Panic 17 Politik 12 Daylight 9
  23. Amsterdam 4 Dont Panic 16 Politik 9 Daylight 11
  24. nvdmm, I fully agree with you.
  25. Haven't seen the scene, but what about Green Eyes or DLIBYH ? The scene in the Graduate where Banjamin walks around at Berkeley looking for the girl (where Simon and Garfunkel's interpretation of Scarborough fair plays)
